What inspired you to write 'Place of Many Birds'?

Thank you for your question. Part of my desire to write about Australia was being away from home and living in London at the time. I wanted to be enveloped by the sounds and smells that are so different to life in the UK. I was also doing some family research that made me realise my ancestors hadn't necessarily had easy lives, so I wanted to remember them and pay a little tribute to say, you have not been forgotten.
