2018 Beyond the Classics discussion

The Last Girlfriend on Earth by Simon Rich is a set of amusing short stories that make you connect with the characters while laughing at them. Simon strings together these humorous short stories all which include a couple who usually argue in some form. The short story Trade was my favorite. It included two girlfriends that traded their boyfriends. Kate, whose requested the trade, explained to Josh that his “attributes” such as his 5 argument losing streak, reflected poorly on him. The irony in this story is clear, and I had a great experience reading not only this story, but the rest of them as well. It was nice to get a break from difficult books and just have an easy time and good laugh while reading Simon Rich. I would recommend The Last Girlfriend On Earth to anyone looking for comedy in a book.
