Title: Not All Of Me Is Dust
Author: Frances Maureen Richardson
Genre: Christian Literature
Formats Available: Pdf or Paperback
Time Frame: 4 Weeks
BOOK DESCRIPTION:
"Father, Jesus promised the Kingdom. His life ended violently. Is the world any better. Did life really change?"
In a harrowing hour near the end of Not All Of Me Is Dust, a minor character puts these questions to the story's hero, the Jesuit Stephen Engle. These questions, and Stephen's response to them, embody the conflict at the novel's heart.
Not All Of Me Is Dust is an account of the cost exacted by living out a high ideal. Specifically, it tells the story of three members of a particular family: imaginative, high-spirited Clare Engle, the youngest, whose childhood fantasies of Christian perfection are realized in the shattering actuality of adulthood; her beautiful, conflicted sister Kathleen; and her brother, Stephen, a priest and poet.
Set in the last years of the twentieth century, the narrative moves from an upper class suburb to an inner city slum, to a university campus, and then travels to Africa, to an Eden about to devolve into chaos. Not All Of Me Is Dust is a story of the sacred and the secular, of love and separation, of aspiration and failure, and most importantly, of loss and recovery.
