Di wrote: "The Tale of the Dueling Neurosurgeons: The History of the Human Brain as Revealed by True Stories of Trauma, Madness, and Recovery by Sam Kean"Sam Kean is excellent.

Jehona wrote: "Why Evolution Is True by Jerry A. Coyne"Ooh, I have that book. I'd be up for reading it. I've read so many books about evolution, though, that I (like everyone else in this group, no doubt) am hardly in need of convincing.
It might be more interesting to cover a book about the history and politics of the debate, like Only a Theory: Evolution and the Battle for America's Soul by Kenneth R. Miller. (No fear, the book is written from a pro-evolution stance.)
Books I've read on evolution:
The Social Conquest of Earth by Edward O. Wilson
The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution by Richard Dawkins
Why Beautiful People Have More Daughters: From Dating, Shopping, and Praying to Going to War and Becoming a Billionaire-- Two Evolutionary Psychologists Explain Why We Do What WeDo by Alan S. Miller
The Violinist's Thumb: And Other Lost Tales of Love, War, and Genius, as Written by Our Genetic Code by Sam Kean
The Universe Within: Discovering the Common History of Rocks, Planets, and People by Neil Shubin
The Gene: An Intimate History by Siddhartha Mukherjee
How the Mind Works by Steven Pinker
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari
A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson
The Big Ones: How Natural Disasters Have Shaped Us by Lucy Jones. "By the world-renowned seismologist, a riveting history of natural disasters, their impact on our culture, and new ways of thinking about the ones to come..."

This book was published less than two months ago, so I think we should defer this nomination. Please nominate it again in a couple of months. Thanks!

Multicellularity: Origins and Evolution does not seem to be widely available. Amazon has one copy of the hardback and doesn't say there are more coming. And the kindle version costs US $51. And my library doesn't carry it.

Yes, the book is not available everywhere, but I could send a link on free electronic version if it’s acceptable.

No, thank you. That is possibly illegal and not condoned by this group or by Goodreads.

Please use the "add book/author" link just above the comment box to insert a link to the Goodreads book page for the book you are nominating, so other members can more easily assess it.
You may nominate a book which has been suggested previously and did not win. You may nominate more than one book, but we might not include all of your nominations in the voting.
Please do not nominate a book which is unlikely to be available to all members, such as one which was just published within the last three months or which is only available on Kindle.
Nominations will close on June 20 or when we have about 10 good nominations, whichever occurs first.
