I just read this. I liked the writing and the child's point of view. But a bit depressing really...



As the end date is already behind us, I write some lines on what I thought about the story.
I finished it a couple of days ago and still don't really know what to make of it exactly. It is short and reads easily, but it is a dark story, dealing with the enormous inequalities of South Africa.
Watson shows us these contrasts (between "wild children" and the spoiled suburban ones) through the eyes of a young girl that misses her mother that is too devoted in her support of the poor children.
