The book opens with a chilling account of Alice Rose being trapped in a pit by Elijah Lank. How did this impact you as you continued the story? Did you think she’d be rescued? Were you able to figure out what year this might have occurred (past or present)?

I thought it was in the present but then the main story started and there was no immediate mention of the Alice Rose issue so I figured it was in the past at that point. I actually like when prologues open up with a crime from the past. It keeps me glued to the book wondering when the connection would happen.

That was my exact same experience! It was always in the background for me until it connected.
