It has been awhile since a book has bought a tear to my eye. This book challenged me with my attitude toward the homeless we see asleep on the park bench or shop doorways. What causes their circumstances to change for them to live such a harsh and lonely life? The story is heart breaking, but then uplifting after the kind act of one small child made this homeless man, who no longer remembers his own name, day change for the better. The smudged illustrations add to the powerfulness of the story. A great addition to any school library.

I bought this book recently Annette and I completely agree with you. Another great recent picture book purchase for us this term has been "Room On Our Rock". This is the one with the cool trick of being able to be read back-to-front which completely changes the message from when you read it front-to-back. It's an ideal one for our Inquiry topic of Human Rights and refugees.
