*waves*Hi, I'm Ashleigh. I created my goodreads account while really tired and didn't realize I just used my first name instead of making an actual username lol. Oh well.
I'm a reading fiend. As my best friend puts it, I don't read books, I devour them.
My favorite genres are urban fantasy, epic fantasy, dystopian, paranormal and horror. But I still read a little bit of everything else as well.
I have a dark, twisted sense of humor and I adore myself for it.
Otherwise, I'm big into animal rescue. I'm attempting to write a book, and am impatiently awaiting the 6th book in ASOIaF.

Hi everyone! I'm Alyssa (despite my username, which I named after one of my favorite members of one of my favorite bands). I love music, I absolutely love it and I will continue to play instruments and sing for as long as I am physically able to do so! But reading is also a big hobby of mine. I love sci-fi and fantasy, those are my two biggies. One of my favorite authors, if not my number one, is no doubt Michael Crichton. That man is a genius with his science fiction novels. But I also love Veronica Roth (betcha can't guess why!) and Ray Bradbury. I enjoy reading mysteries as well, and Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes will stay as my favorite detectives for a long time. I've written one novella to date, as well as one or two short stories; I have this thing where I'll start a story, and have a great concept, but never finish it because I'm not sure how it should end. So I have many story beginnings just sitting on my computer...maybe I'll share some with you guys sometimes! I really wish I could swim, and I thank Oceangirlie for inviting me to this group because it seems like it's going to be a lot of fun!

I haven't read a whole lot of sci-fi yet, but it sounds like if I ever need some recommendations I'll be able to count on you for that! I started reading the Sprawl trilogy by William Gibson recently, and I'm enjoying it so far. And what I've read by Ray Bradbury I've also enjoyed. So what instruments do you play? And yay for another writer in the group! It sounds like we've got a pretty creative bunch here. :) I can totally relate to having a ton of started writing projects that need to be finished. I used to be notorious for starting one thing and then hopping to the next in no time, but I've actually managed to (mostly) resist that urge and am currently working on the final draft of my first novel. I'm so excited we have so many budding writers in this group. :)

Thank you guys, for such kind words :) I mainly play violin and piano, but I've also dabbled a bit in cello and timpani as well. And I absolutely love to sing!

Yeah, well you guys all seem soooo nice!
So, let's begin! *Ahem* I'm Dee and I pretty much like most of the sub-genres of fantasy. I enjoy when you have realistic characters in imaginative situations and/or settings. And if it has mythical beasties, all the better!
My favorite authors are George RR Martin and Peter S. Beagle.
Aside from reading, some of my other hobbies are writing, drawing, and cooking/baking, to name a few.
If I'm not reading fantasy books, I usually read informational texts on a variety of subjects such as: mythical creatures/folklore, history, true crime, and plants and animals.
