Was a huge support to our lil group.
It really hit home when I went to the library and they had two of his books out on the wall for the mystery section display a few hours ago.
i remember randomly picking up his book at the library when it was on the new releases table - I LOVED it - it was my intro to NN - I didn't read the millenium trilogy until after that

Yep.
I've read all of his books and wait for the next one every year. He was fun too and contributed so much on these boards. Loved him and I'm totally devastated to hear that he died. Very sad news indeed. RIP Jim.
This breaks my heart. Reading his posts on this board really broke the barrier between authors and readers for me. He was so kind and accessible. My condolences to all who cared for him. Rest well Jim <3
Indeed. Sigh...But at least people will be still able to fall in love with his books, with his Finland and with his inspector Vaara. As long as there are books and libraries out there, his stories will be out there. And we can read the books that once opened the world in some way again later. And again...
But of course it would have been wonderful to have more stories with inspector Vaara in them. I was especially looking forward to meeting a new colleague of Kari that I know would be in one of the future stories.
C'est la vie. Slowly back to life... And books...

In the other group fizzycola had found a newspaper article in Finnish about it
http://www.iltalehti.fi/viihde/201408... accidental, no details. Way too early, and it hurts.
