Christian Nonfiction Lovers Book Club discussion

I just love reading (auto)biographies. they inspire and encourage me. It is a privilege to learn from the ones who have gone before us. So, I am curious... which (auto)biography impacted you and why?

This book isn't the true story of a person's entire life, but I was so moved by CS Lewis's A Grief Observed for the way it gives the reader a window into Lewis's season of mourning his beloved wife.

As a fuller autobiography, I was also greatly impacted by working with Lucinda Russell on her sometimes harrowing but truly inspirational life story, Healer of My Soul. It's so encouraging to see how she was brought through such deep waters in faith. The very real way Jesus helped her throughout her lifelong struggle to survive is such an encouragement.

A new favorite biography of mine is Darrel Campbell's biography of Pistol Pete Maravich.

I just finished this book on the life of Aimee Semple McPherson, quite an interesting story about an exceptional woman of God. Sister Aimee: The Life of Aimee Semple McPherson

I am currently reading Marilyn Hickey's book: it's not over until you win. A great inspiration and so encouraging! That woman traveled all over the world to preach the gospel and hold healing services, mostly in Muslim nations. Go figure.

I haven't read a lot of (auto)biographies, but I loved reading about Keith Green - No Compromise written posthumously by his wife Melody!

"Bonhoeffer" by Eric Metaxis was great. I also loved "Amazing Grace, The Dramatic Life Story of John Newton" by John Pollock

It's been a long time since I read it, but I found this book very moving too.

I was inspired by a "Piece of Cake" by Cupcake Brown ... wow such an overcomer and to know faith helped her with that too and now she uses her experiences to help others out of such desperation and despair highly recommend it

Being Elisabeth. This is a biography of Elisabeth Elliot. Insightful and inspiring.

I agree with no compromise, fantastic.
