What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I’m trying to remember this book I read in high school, would’ve been around 2010-2014, that I think may or may not have been young adult fantasy. I remember the narrator was of Asian descent and I think the book was centered around some sort of Asian mythology. The cover was matte black and on the inside cover, there was a note with a lip print (part of the book.) I don’t remember much plot wise but the narrator was female and I believe the conflict was that her boyfriend went missing? Her grandmother was involved somehow. All I distinctly remember is the cover.

*Rowan, and I think there was a flower on the cover but I can't be sure. I just know that I had a hardcover copy and when you opened the book, on the inside cover there was a lip print and a small envelope flap with a note in it as a cool feature to the book. And I believe it took place in a big city, possibly Seattle, but like I said I don't really remember anything at all about the book except the cover and a vague idea of the plot.

Maybe The Dragons of Heaven?

I think it takes place in Seattle. It's a fantasy. Kind of older YA. Woman of Asian descent. Cool cover. THere are some issues that arise with a grandmotherly figure and other extended families.

Blue Dragon - this series and especially the later ones follow a woman of Asian descent in either Hong Kong or Sydney, Australia. There is a missing boyfriend and some extended family cause problems.

Sounds like Cathy's Book by Sean Stewart. There's a flap at the back that has a few different items - a napkin with a lipstick print on it, a Chinese takeaway menu, etc. Cathy is trying to find her missing ex-boyfriend, Victor, and discovers he's involved with the immortal Eight Ancestors (Chinese mythology).
