With three novels and about a dozen novellas, jumping into this series is a serious commitment. And yet, it's a leap that I highly recommend.

The series follows the adventures of Alice Gailsone...formerly known as Dyspell, a supervillainess feared as the most dangerous woman in the world. But she's (mostly) retired from the criminal lifestyle, now, and is hired to work for the heroes who had once opposed her.

What could possibly go wrong?The answer, of course is 'quite a bit!'. And the author does a masterful job of making the stakes feel personal and profound, every step of the way.

The action is intense, the mysteries well constructed, the primary characters incredibly engaging, and the dialogue well-mapped. Where the stories really shine, however, is in the characters' relationships. The good, the bad, the messy...These characters have been through hell together and their interactions are so nuanced that even the most extraordinary circumstances feel terribly human.

Throughout the books, Alice Gailsone finds family in a circle of other damaged but incredibly strong women. And the most dangerous woman alive will do anything...ANYTHING...to keep them safe.
