Thoroughly enjoyable adventure story. Not a good readaloud but only because the maps in the book are such an important part of the story. The children accidentally leave their mother behind and have to carry on the race to the finish line while mapping their route. Physical challenges, friendship, arguments, cheating adults, bravery and caring for others.
