Chloe Wightman This an amazing read and I find the wording of the story on how the character is neglected and lonely is rather touching and emotional. A girl who had a hard start to life trying to adjust to the life in which she is not accepted. I think every girl should read this book (11+) and come out with a positive outlook on life and not take things for granted. Laurinda is about a young girl’s struggle for a sense of belonging, identity and happiness. Young Lucy is a 15-year-old girl – with a vibrant and sharp-witted personality yet some cheek shines through her bold characteristics. She attends Christ Our Saviour Collage and just another migrant kid in a school filled with diverse cultures. A complete change of scene is brought to Lucy when she is offered a scholarship at an elite private girl’s school. Now Lucy is isolated and intimidated by the unfamiliar surroundings and trying to keep up with this new world. She begins to doubt herself and drifts away from some of the closest people in her life. She can’t find her voice in a world in which makes her feel as though she doesn’t belong. Lucy needs to find the courage to come out and gain confidence. She needs to be heard and her story to be told.
