Chris Buckham | 1 comments Good Morning All,

I have just joined and would like to suggest a book as well as let folks know about my review blog. The latest book that I am reviewing is 1918: Winning the War, Losing the War. It is a series of essays drafted by experts on the different protagonists as they stood in 1918. Each chapter is a different subject. Chapters cover the military and political strengths and weaknesses of the countries as they stood in 1918. Book may be read as individual chapters or as a flow through. Great synopsis and analysis of the countries. I will post here when my complete review is done. I also have a blog of book reviews if any of you are interested at www.themilitaryreviewer.blogspot.com Regards Chris Buckham

Brian Reid | 3 comments Hi Chris,

Welcome aboard. This year, the centenary of the end of the war, I have learned more about how it all ended than I had picked up in decades of reading. Allied planning was based on the war ending in 1919 or 1920 as it would take that long for the American build up to be complete. However, after Amiens Haig realized the Germans were a spent force, and persuaded Foch et al to launch an offensive that ended with Canadian infantry in Mons where the Brits first bumped the Germans in 1914 on November 11th..
