The one guy Bailey Rydell can’t stand is actually the boy of her dreams—she just doesn’t know it yet.

Classic movie fan Bailey “Mink” Rydell has spent months crushing on a witty film geek she only knows online as Alex. Two coasts separate the teens until Bailey moves in with her dad, who lives in the same California surfing town as her online crush.

Faced with doubts (what if he’s a creep in real life—or worse?), Bailey doesn’t tell Alex she’s moved to his hometown. Or that she’s landed a job at the local tourist-trap museum. Or that she’s being heckled daily by the irritatingly hot museum security guard, Porter Roth—a.k.a. her new archnemesis. But life is a whole lot messier than the movies, especially when Bailey discovers that tricky fine line between hate, love, and whatever it is she’s starting to feel for Porter.

And as the summer months go by, Bailey must choose whether to cling to a dreamy online fantasy in Alex or take a risk on an imperfect reality with Porter. Chapter 1 (view spoiler)[ I've read a lot of romance books, but none lately that open up with online chat and the two never having met in person. This should be pretty interesting. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6 or 7 (I lost count with GR being down): (view spoiler)[ Porter is kinda a huge dick. Like... Wow dude. I feel for him with the story of his dad and grandfather, but... like damn. I hope his personality changes in a couple chapters. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 1-11

This is fun! I really like the angle of Alex and Bailey’s online chat and I have SO MUCH HOPE that Porter is really Alex. I think I’ll actually be crushed if he’s not. I want to see more of Gracie and I love the descriptions of the boardwalk. This really makes me want a churro! And I love how she said that “just because someone is shy doesn’t mean they’re stuck up”. This is SO TRUE. (hide spoiler)]

Started a bit early, and opening chapter points strongly to where this is going.

Chapter 12-23

Wow this book has some really intense issues. I love when YA books address real issues and all the stuff with Davy rings true with the horrible opioid crisis that’s happening with teens now. I really hope nothing happens to him and they find a way to help him.
Wow I know that Porter is Alex. It just all fits and I was Bailey to find out SOON! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 24

Ugh boys!!!!! It made me so mad when Porter figures out that Bailey is “mink” and his reaction is SO CHILDISH! Getting mad and storming out without explaining. RIGHT after he asked her to be more open with him?!?! Boys!!! And then he comes back and expects her to just forgive him with no explanation. Sheesh. And he tries to like trick her by talking to her as “Alex”. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 25-End

Wow this book had my heart racing more than I expected, especially the scene with Davy in the surf shop. Then I was so anxious about Bailey meeting "alex" and the big reveal! And I loved the ending. Even though I was mad at Porter for a while, I'm just happy about this ending and I love that all the characters are keeping themselves busy! Baily is doing rollerderby! So cool and I'm happy she's able to put herself out there. (hide spoiler)]

Up to ch10. Easy read. I’m trying to finish another or I wouldn’t be putting this down. Light but entertaining.

Up to ch15. Was wondering when things would start moving in the direction I assume they’re going to.

Such a fun read! I didn't want to put it down either.

Up to ch19. Liking these two together. Not too sickly.

Finished. Review on home page. Pretty much as expected. Some nice moments and some underdeveloped characters, but generally a cute summer read.

Yeah I liked them together too! Definitely a cute one and great for summer.
