The Angel by My Side, by Mike Lingenfelter and David Frei, is one of the most touching books I've ever read. It took my appreciation of dogs, which was high to begin with, to an even higher level. The first half of the book is the perfect lead-in to the second half, the latter which I found to be breathtaking and thought-provoking. Being somewhat of a comedian, I was quite aware of the scarcity of comic relief, which, however, in no way diminished the book's message. What is that message? Dogs have more than earned the moniker "Man's(and woman's) best friend." I give this book five stars only because you're not allowed to give any more than five.
