This was a very cute and quick read. I like that the author primarily told the story from the dog's perspectives. I do wish it had been in color though, the black and white drawings make it harder to tell the different dogs apart.

I love dogs so it is a no brainer that I liked this book. (view spoiler)[ I just wish there was more love for Ivan and the other strays we meet in the book. I get that not everything has happy endings and this book had a form of an okay ending for Ivan at least, but I would have preferred an unrealistically cute ending. To give an example of what I like, I love Chi's Sweet Home, Volume 1! (hide spoiler)]

The art in this was quite nice. I can see what you mean Russell about the dogs seeming similar looking but I mostly only had trouble with one dog. The rest were district enough. Maybe because I'm familiar (I think) with the breeds?

Apparently there is another book about Kirby, the tied up bull dog. I might see if I can find it even though I didn't think this one stood out much. Helped that it was so quick honestly.

Agree. I almost always prefer color, although I know it's more expensive to produce.
