LITTLE BOOK CLUB discussion

Since this book club is new, I’m still working out the best way to organise everything, including the book selection for our polls. One thing I noticed last month was that a lot of the highly nominated books were ones I have already read (most of them fairly recently). One of my aims in starting this book club was to expand my reading horizons a little and try some new books, especially ones I haven’t even heard of before!

Last month the poll was made up of two options selected by you, the other two by myself. I aim to do this each month, however if I have already read a book that a lot of you are interested in, and I’m not read - or interested, in re-reading it, I may choose to select a replacement from the list of your nominations instead.
- For those that are really interested in reading a certain book, I can organise a thread for a mini readalong if you are interested in this as a possible alternative)

I’ve also seen some concerns about the lack of variety of books we have to choose from, so I’ll try to keep our options more diverse via my selections. I try to select books that I am really excited about reading, so I apologise in advance if I forget or make a mistake, and it turns out to be similar to another book in the poll! I will do my best to find alternatives if I can (I’ll probably take a look at some of the other nominated books).

Like I mentioned, I’m still working out the best way to organise things so everything runs smoothly, and if this doesn’t end up working out then that’s totally okay! It’s just a case of trial and error, and figuring out what works best for everyone.

I hope you understand. I want to keep this book club as strongly influenced by you as possible, but I also want to be excited about our book picks too, since I’ll be partaking in all of the reading fun each month :)

I also want to highlight some lesser-known books amongst the selection, and there were plenty nominated which would be perfect! I might try and make it more randomly selected :)

I think the mix of group recommendations and your personal choices is great. Grabbing some at random seems like it could be fun. If you ever want help counting up the groups recommendations Id be more than happy to tally them up for you. Whichever way you go about it, I'm sure we'll end up with something good to read!

Having both YA and adult nominations would be great too :)

For lesser known books have you ever read the Wardstone Chronicles, The Alchemyst, or Skullduggery Pleasant?
