Reading Usher's Fall by Robert McCammeron (?) Not sure how I feel about it as it's the first thing I've read by him and it feels the same way the last thing I ever read by Stephen King felt - too creepy for me
Finished Darkness Weaves and am moving on to Bloodstone, another of Karl Edward Wagner's Kane novels.

I finished all my current reads August 31st, and starting fresh in September with Throne of Jade in ebook and Half a War in audiobook :)
I just finished Rogue Protocol. Still good, but I think the first remains my favorite so far.Now I'm getting a head start on Miserere: An Autumn Tale.
My books for September are The Lions of Al-Rassan, Daughter of the Forest, The Crimson Campaign, and The Autumn Republic. Also, anything that may peek my fancy.
I'm in the middle of Assassin's Quest now and will probably move on to Skin Game and Oathbringer this month.
Elise wrote: "I just finished Rogue Protocol. Still good, but I think the first remains my favorite so far."I just finished All Systems Red and am about halfway through Artificial Condition. I'm really enjoying this series and never would have imagined I'd relate so much to a character that calls themselves Murderbot.
I just finished The Blade Itself, currently reading The Elementals and next I plan to start The Lions of Al-Rassan

Yep, very relateable character.
I thought books one and two were better than three. She’s writing a full length Murderbot novel.
Continuing on with Kane: I finished Bloodstone and started a collection of short stories, Death Angel's Shadow.
Helen wrote: "I thought books one and two were better than three. She’s writing a full length Murderbot novel."I liked one and two better than three so far as well. Still looking forward to the full length novel though.
Finished The Lions of Al-Rassan now on to Daughter of the Forest. (This is why I tried not to have the same books on different challenges. I felt like I had to update it every where. Alas though, it couldn't be helped)

Lol
Lol
Having finished the Kane books (what can I say? I've had more reading time than usual this month), I started rereading Glen Cook's Chronicles of the Black Company (since he just release a new book, Port of Shadows, that fits between the first & second novels in the collection).
Hi all. Haven't updated for a while, life and stuff getting in the way. I finished Throne of Jade which i was a little disappointed with. It seemed very slow and any action was largely irrelevant to the plot. I did move onto Black Powder War which was better. In fact,if you treat these as a two part story it's much more satisfying.
At the moment i'm on a reread of Shadows of Self
A Time Of Dread which was brilliant. Pawn which was surprising, I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not after the initial few pages. Then Bamboo People which was really interesting. All audio :)

A Time Of Dread looks interesting. I put it on my TBR list. I think it's ironic that we have two recent books with "blood and bone" in their titles.

Wax and Wayne are two of my top ten favorite characters.

Currently reading Behind the Throne. Enjoying it. The characters are the driving force, as they should be, and they are very well-drawn. I don't see the 'diverse' nature of the characters and setting as being particularly intrinsic to the story, although I'm only halfway through so it may happen. It could easily be retold with white men in a futuristic setting. (The same reason I disliked the Black Panther movie. A very trite and ordinary story with a lot of local spectacle disguising the fact.)

Have you read his other set? You don't need to, to read this but it'll certainly enrichen it. I feel I've made that word up but I'm just too tired to care :D

Finished Daughter of the Forest. It was a lot more of a romance novel then I expected but it still was an entertaining read. Now on to The Crimson Campaign to complete my sub-genre challenge.
I finished The Prey of Gods last night. It was amazing. One of my favorite reads this year. Sci-fi, but with fantasy elements too. It's crazy and wild and weird, but really kept me turning the pages.
Helen wrote: "Oh you must read them, they're excellent."
It's actually near the top of my never ending list.

Finished off the entire Indranan War trilogy, Behind the Throne, After the Crown, and Beyond the Empire. An Indian-cultured matriarchal empire in the far future is fighting a war for survival against betrayers within and without. Very good series.
Finished Shadows of Self. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It was better second time around! There was a lot i'd forgotten like the wierd spike at the end..... what was that?!I certainly agree with Tnkw01 about Wax and Wayne, therefore onto The Bands of Mourning
I’ve returned to Peter Brett, The Skull Throne. It’s taken a year - some numpty at the book signing told everyone a major spoiler.
Listening to The Spirit Ring my Lois McMaster Bujold. I’m around 30 mins in.

I guess I'm weird but spoilers don't really bother me. But, I understand that it does some people. In my young stupid days, many, many years ago, I blurted out something about a movie on a vacation trip and one of the guys wouldn't talk to me the rest of the trip. Learned my lesson that day.

Well I’d probably have ignored you too ;))
This was a huge one that I can’t even hint at as it totally takes the edge off for anyone reading here. The author told him off

Yea, I wouldn't blame you. Like I said, I learned my lesson. As for the author, I can really appreciate that.

Picked up The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton, after setting it aside a few months ago. I liked it, it just wasn't grabbing my interest enough at the time. Much more into it this time.
Forgot to mention: Finished Port of Shadows, so returned to the appropriate point in Chronicles of the Black Company.
I finished The Obelisk Gate. Good though maybe not better than The Fifth Season. Suffers from some middle book syndrome. And I’ve started Dracula for the Halloween season.
I'm reading WoT 3, The Dragon Reborn, after finishing Wot 2, The Great Hunt earlier this month. I read all three of the Legion novellas by Brandon Sanderson for the release of the final book. I read the Accidental Highwayman and Ink and Ashes for fun. Oh, and I reread Hunger Games #1 randomly one afternoon while waiting for my holds to come in at the library.
