I would nominate Misplaced Loyalty by Marcia Turner..It would be a bargain book, but one caveat it is pretty long for a mystery coming in at over 500 pages.
With a new one from Tana French coming out @ the beginning of Sept. i'm taking a holiday from the group.
I wondered it I was the only one to notice but it was so off the wall I left it to the moderator.
One of my very favorite authors, Rennie Airth, has a new novel about to come out. I have literally waited for years and Im very excited. Already ordered it. If you like Charles Todd you will love these books.
Not currently available on Kindle and the the book itself is not directly available from Amazon only from their third party sellers.
I have The Detective's Daughter by Lesley Thompson on my kindle. Bought it just recently from Amazon.com.

WHen I look at it on the US site it shows The Detective's Daughter as a Kindle e-book but then on the right side of the screed it says "not currently available for purchase"
I was able to purchase the Detectives Daughter on the Australian Amazon site. Also downloaded the Tuppenny Hat Detective which is also free on this site.

I just looked at British Mystery authors, but I have to admit I didn't really check them all out. I just took a few from the first page of results. They're all around 4 stars. I did try to check to make sure they haven't been on the reading list lately.
A Death in the Family by Caroline Dunford (Goodreads author -- may be youth fiction), $.99
Murderer's Fete: an Inspector Constable murder mystery (The Inspector Constable murder mysteries Book 1) by Roger Keevil, $1.49.
The Reluctant Detective (The Reluctant Detective Mysteries Book 1) by Sinclair Macleod, $.99
Dead on Demand (A DCI Morton Crime Novel) by Sean Campbell and Daniel Campbell, $.00 (I'm getting this one anyway since it's free -- at least today!)
We in the southern hemisphere often have this problem where the book voted is not available to us through Amazon or is not a value book price. I consider it to be just bad luck.I have to say I find it very annoying when I have seen a nominated title available on Amazon, but not there by the time it becomes the group read.
I have gotten in the habit (at least with the free books) of downloading them as soon as they are nominated in case they go away. I have even done this with some of the $1 ones if they look like I would like to read them anyway.

I accept the price can change, but when the book suddenly becomes unavailable I don't get at all.

I just found that too, Fanfic, I'm downloading it now. Wonder why I couldn't find it earlier. Amazon U.S. is being pretty weird lately -- maybe because of their new lending service?
Kari Morandi wrote: "I just found that too, Fanfic, I'm downloading it now. Wonder why I couldn't find it earlier. They are pushing it pretty hard

The Last Witness is available in Kindle format on Amazon Australia for AUS$5.08 which is still a value read for me. Also found it on the US site for US$4.73.
I can see the Detective's Daughter by Lesley Thomson in kindle format also on the US site for US$3.80. There is a book callled the Detective's Secret Daughter which is not available in the kindle format.
The Tupenny Hat Detective is there on the US site for free in Kindle format.
Would like to know which one to start reading.

True - the Detective's Daughter definitely not available in the US for US purchasers. Tupenny Hat Detective is currently available

How annoying! So it appears to be available, but is not available when you go to purchase it.
It makes it difficult to select the group reads when there are so many discrepancies in the different amazon
sites.

THis is the first month that I can remember that we have really had an issue though so that is not too bad :)

It happens quite often for us 'down under' :)
Her A Kind of Vanishing looks like a really good read too. I was reading Thomson's website and how she wrote Ghost Girl is interesting.http://lesleythomson.co.uk/

Sorry I just did a search for The detective's daughter and it came up ghost girl (the detective's daughter) on US Amazon. I guess they are calling the whole series the detective's daughter. My mistake
