Virginie...well, I think ALL the Tome Raiders proclaimed her. I proclaimed her Queen Shallan and Ron decided to abdicate and promoted her to Empress and gave her a tiara and everything...

I am soooo in...but mind ye, varlets and varmints and scurvy knaves...I only commit to the first book as a trial...I fully expect to pull a F&tF....

I feel like I want to join in on this read just because of the comments even before the read has started.

Sadly I don't have a copy of it and I have way too many books I have to read that I already own, but enjoy the read! It seems like a really fun group this time :)

I've just realised the schedule goes into November! That's no good for competition points! XD I'll be trying to finish all my scheduled reads in October.

Chapter 1 - 3: I thought this was a great opening! I like it so far, funnier than I expected. (view spoiler)[Sounds like the life of the greatcoats is not as glamorous as they were lead to believe haha.
So if the greatcoats abandoned their king when the dukes rebelled, what are they now? Just mercenaries working for whoever? Seems like they should just disband. Hmm. Weird that the people hated the king but still hate them for not standing by him. Very much like *Game of Thrones spoilers*(view spoiler)[Jaime Lannister being hated for killing the evil king they were all trying to kill, because he was sworn to protect him. (hide spoiler)] People have a lot of double standards... (hide spoiler)]

I'm liking these guys so far also. (view spoiler)[ I was surprised with the story of the Greatcoats and the king. I'm assuming there is more to this story than we know so far as that is a pretty tough background to live down. (hide spoiler)]

Agreed @Siobhan and @Terry. Fun so far and good characters. Light and easy which I'm totally needing right now.

As much as I'd love to read this one I've done a ridiculous thing and I've committed to 16 BRs this month... and I'm still reading 3 (big ones) from Sep. It's just not reasonable really. So hopefully someone will want to read this one with me next year. Hope you guys really enjoy your read!
