On one of the city's hottest nights, New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas is sent to Central Park - and into a hellish new investigation. The victim is found on the rocks, just above the still, dark water of The Lake in Central Park. Around her neck is a single red ribbon. Her hands are posed, as if in prayer. But it is the eyes - removed with such precision, as if done by the careful hand of a surgeon - that have Dallas most alarmed. As more bodies turn up, each with the same defining scars, Eve is frantic for answers. Against her instincts, she accepts help from a psychic who offers one vision after another - each with shockingly accurate details of the murders. And when partner and friend Peabody is badly injured after escaping an attack, the stakes are raised. Are the eyes a symbol? A twisted religious ritual? A souvenir? With help from her husband, Roarke, Dallas must uncover the killer's motivation before another vision becomes another nightmare...

I love the vision of dallas going to the murder scene and clambering down the rocks to the body in a glittering green dress and heels :-P You would think by now she would have a stand by bag of clothes maybe stashed in Rourks limo or something when she goes out just in case so she can change.

I expected Eve to freak out a little at Dochas. I do wonder though if she will ever tell Peabody about her past. She would have heard some of it with the confession of the HSO agent in the last book. Though i still kind of think of peabody as an innocent and I think knowing that while she could handle knowing about Dallas' past, I think eve thinks it might take away some of Peabody's shine to know what happened (hide spoiler)]

Peabody: "I prefer cocker spaniel 'cause they've got those cute floppy ears,"

I didn’t get through as my head of this last night as I had planned as I sort of accidentally fell asleep at my computer LOL! Currently halfway through chapter 8

Up to chapter 16 (view spoiler)[ I am bit confused why the psychic celena would think the reason she is connected to the misers is as a result of her ex-boyfriend dating the murder victim 3 murders in especially as that is the one murder so far she didn’t see. Unless she and Lucas are somehow connected to the murders as a whole but that doesn’t really scan for me

I absolutely loved it and turns out I was right about the connection for the visions being Lucas being absolutely bogus. I was both surprised and not surprised to find out Celina had killed Analisa.

I hated Peabody getting hurt and it will be interesting to see how she copes in the next few books with her recovery although its possible the author maybe start the next book after she has made the majority of her recovery but I don't think so somehow.

I love the fact that i can get so pulled in top the books in the series. I thinks its partly as we know the characters so well now so its almost like coming home.

I noticed that Peabody calls Eve sir. Is that normal in the future? Also, I don't remember Eve ever telling her husband that the victim's eyes were taken.

Eve was kinda mean to Sanchez, no? I think she is going to be important in the story. (hide spoiler)]

This threw me too! I guess we now know why. Right when I was thinking what happened to Celina Ol Eve walked into her apartment.

Blue was a freaky dude.

Peabody was my favorite. She did the little dances and has an enduring personality.

This was my first book in the series and I like it. There were times I was reading and thought, "that doesn't sound right." Maybe it was the futuristic part of the book. I'll read another! (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]
