Hello everyone!

I know I mentioned when we read The Last Ballad that we were working on getting Wiley Cash back to Gaston County, and now I can say he is coming back! Below is the info directly from the libraries website.

New York Times bestselling author and Gastonia native, Wiley Cash, will speak at the Gaston County Public Library on Tuesday, October 16 at 12:00 p.m. about his latest novel, The Last Ballad. The subject matter is the 1929 Loray Mill Strike in Gastonia and the untimely death of Gaston County resident and union activist Ella May Wiggins.

The event will include a Q & A/talk-back session with a panel of individuals from the community, which include members of local textile employee families and strikers who will share memories, family stories, and experiences. In partnership with Park Road Books, copies of the book will be available for purchase.

There will be an optional lunch during the event which begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are not required for the event, but a telephone RSVP is requested by Tuesday, October 9, for those who plan to purchase a lunch. The lunch price will be $8.00 per person. To RSVP for the lunch, call (704) 868-2164, option 4.
