I like Hornby’s writing style. It’s very fluid and you can feel the characters thinking. I think that is because he typically uses shorter, not very complex sentences. However, I didn’t notice it in Slam, but in this one, he did switch to longer more complex sentences when there was a major revelation to be made.

I have only read A Long Way Down by him before and it was okay. In fact, I just check my review and that is my first sentence! :)
