So far, so good~ but Mare, do tell, what is wrong with you and that mouth of yours; It knows no boundaries. LOL
When it comes to comparing the sisters, I really don’t know why she thinks that way as I have yet to read that anyone compares Mare to Gisa besides Mare herself. Why compare a Pink-lady Apple to a Honey-crisp apple when they are both delicious and versatile in cooking in their own way? It’s ridiculous… but human to do so, haha. Maybe Mare lands into all the trouble she runs into because of being MOUTHY, maybe that’s why she can’t seem to understand why “everyone” prefers her sister over her? You know, just maybe… since I’m pretty sure she’s just in denial of her social standing and skills. (Probably, thinks she’s so nice and polite).
From what I can tell, the differences between Reds and Silvers is apparent within the first few pages and I appreciate that the author did that and laid the foundation out right from the get-go. Now, besides the obvious difference in the color of blood and having magical gifts, there is a huge social class/power gap. It’s sad to me that the Silvers use the Reds as their foot soldiers to protect their own land; Silvers could care less what happens to the Reds or if their families suffer from any loss.
...Here, let’s send your sister/brother/relative to the front because we’re too scared to fight for ourselves even though we have magic and super-powers to give us the upper hand compared to the Reds. -SIGH- Someone, please, knock some sense into them and give them some of the courage the Cowardly Lion had gotten. (Kudos to those who get the reference)
Honestly, I don’t really know if I would have run away to avoid going to the army…
I’m quite cowardly when it comes to going against governmental authority. Let’s shed a tear for me as I’d be a useless member of society during a raid, dictatorship, or [insert other aggressive forms of governmental power acting against its people].
Now let’s go back to Silvers and their Champions.
You can clearly protect yourselves, and love to make a show of it, so explain to me why they refuse to fight on their own. They obviously, in my perspective, love to scare the Reds with their demonstration of strength and seemingly limitless-elemental capabilities, but I fail to understand why it’s truly necessary. Okay, they’re scared and are now “willing” to fight as to avoid going against the government or social standings, but what do Silvers get out of it?
Mare having powers of silver was one of the things that raised my curiosity but wasn't discussed as much as I would've liked, maybe it has to do with one of the silvers mixing in with the red in secret a long time back and now because of some trigger, some factor activated those powers in her? Honestly, very less is told about it to imagine any kind of explanation.
Mare can sense cameras in her room upon arrival, Cal swears he doesn’t know of them. I'm pretty sure I suspect the evil Queen being behind all the hidden cameras Mare senses. She, as in the Queen, just seems to give off the feeling that she NEEDS to know what everyone is thinking and doing, *cough*paranoid *cough*
As for Farley, up until now, she seems like an honest person and simply interested in getting the job done. Her mind is purely on Scarlet Guard activity and their success in making a difference for all the Reds out there under the Silvers' oppression and reign.
Now, let's talk about the Queen. I don't trust her and I'm sure she is trying to quiet the Rebel attacks in order to somehow manipulate it afterward to benefit her. How? I have no idea, but I'm sure she will do something in utilizing the Rebels and the Scarlet Guards to benefit her.
Now speaking of Scarlet Guards, Kilorn, you crazy fool.
I stand by the fact that he has no reason to be upset with Mare. She saved his life and possible livelihood to live well but no, this idiot had to go and "save" his own life by signing up with a rebellion.
Honestly, I just want to know if the plan at the ball worked well or not? Did something go wrong or was it smooth and the Red Guard got away?
