I started reading this book before the group start date because I’ve been getting through my recent books slowly but I couldn’t stop reading it and I’ve already finished!!!! Oops! I was really skeptical at first but really liked this book!!
I can't think of anything I really didn't like about this book! The characters weren't always necessarily likable but they were very interesting. I think horror must be a difficult genre to write, because I don't usually feel scared like I do with movies, but this was actually pretty creepy! The suspense was really well done, and there were times when the author was so descriptive that I could imagine exactly what the narrator was experiencing and feeling. This is pretty impressive since most of the time the narrator wasn't actually seeing anything, although in my opinion this also helps make it more creepy.
I really loved this book! It reminded me of the movie "A Quiet Place". I will be interested to see how this is turned into a movie though, since a lot of what happened were thoughts.
I'm really happy that everyone who has commented so far has enjoyed this book. It was my group pick and it's one of my favorites! I read it a couple of years ago with my own little book club and it was so fantastically creepy that I could not put it down. I loved the female main character and her strength to push through. I especially loved the past and present POV chapters, which always kept me thinking "what is going to happen next??" (view spoiler) The movie is coming to Netflix this December and I'm really looking forward to it. The trailer is on YouTube if anyone wants to check it out. I'm interested to see how Sandra Bullock will portray Malorie.
so now that the movie has come out what are everyone's thoughts from the novel compared to the Netflix movie?
Currently reading it right now! Wow, four months ago I would’ve never expected this to be the number one meme movie.
Great pick!
Great pick!
