He is a relatively new horror writer. I believe that he is mainly a history professor but his writing, especially in "The Lesser Dead", conveys a terror that keeps you drawn in. He disturbs you up to the point where you can't manage to read anymore but your morbid curiosity keeps you reading. He also wrote four other books.
