Thanks! We're safe, just getting wind and rain, but I'll use the weekend to catch up on my reading.

The storms look very frightening - stay safe if you live in the areas affected.

I am not directly affected. But my husband is on standby. He will head out if they need him.


This brought a traumatic memory for him. He was packed to head to New York with 30 other surgeons on 9/11. He got the call that no one was needed. Their were not as many survivors as had been hoped for. It is something that still haunts him.

I hope he isn't needed for the right reason this time

My family has been affected by the hurricane. We evacuated and are being encouraged not to return to our coastal town for several more days. So, we wait on day 7 of our "evacuation vacation" with more days to go. Not sure how our stuff/home/cars survived :( It's not fun.

I had a family member who left the Myrtle Beach area and has just this past week been able to return home. Luckily, her home wasn't flooded, but some of her neighbors were. Much of the time she couldn't return home because roads were closed.

I had just archived this topic when I heard of this new hurricane, Michael, striking Florida and other states in the US.
