This is the thread for Book #2 of the Robert McCammon Challenge, Bethany's Sin. We will be starting the read on 9/15. Many of you joined us for the first in the series, Baal, and we discovered how McCammon got his start way back in 1978. A solid, if not an unspectacular start to his career. You could see that he had what it takes to be an engaging storyteller even back then in his mid-twenties. Bethany's Sin is up next. All are welcome to join along. It doesn't matter if this is your first time or if you're continuing the journey with us. With that being said, who's in for Bethany's Sin??

It's better than I anticipated! I like the setting, but I feel like he's a bit heavy handed with the foreshadowing for the first hundred pages or so. Definitely feels like he was still honing his craft, but still pretty enjoyable so far!
Ken wrote: "Kimberly! I’m shocked that there’s one you haven’t read!! Lol"Ken, I haven't read BAAL yet, either! (But I've read a few of his books multiple times, so that counts, right??)
Seriously, this is one I *need* to get to.....
Ken wrote: "C’mon in, Kimberly. The water is fine! 😉"If you can get my youngest (who's been home sick) back to school sooner, I'm in--LOL!
Starting this book today, it's been many years since I last read it so looking forward to becoming reacquainted!
A little over 200 pages now. I feel like the character development is lacking in some ways in this one, but still enjoying the book.
Finished Chapter 7. Is it me or does every small town have that one cop that is just itching to wield his authority?
I have just finished reading this book. I think it was a great story line, with an interesting theory. Like Ken I found the first few chapters a bit tedious and felt like the story was going nowhere. It soon ramped up with an exciting if not a little sad, conclusion. I found his character development of Evan very interesting but really felt nothing for Kay. I was wondering why they were together. All in all I found it far superior to Baal in character development, story development and conclusion. Eagerly awaiting the next book. I just cannot get enough of Robert McCammon, he is my favourite author, and Bethany's Sin has left me wanting more.
I finished Chapter 13 last night. The character development is progressing nicely. I feel like the story is taking on an almost dream-like quality to it. For instance (view spoiler)
