Heir of Fire!

Hopes and Dreams for Book 3
HoF can go a lot of places, especially because Celaena is venturing into new territory. I have no clue what I think will happen in Heir of Fire.I just want some more badass, strong female characters like Nehemia and Celaena. I love that they fight for what they believe in and make their own decisions.
I also need a Chaolaena reunion.

totally agree with you..but I also want to read more about Arobynn...like what hes been upto..and how he will react when he will learn that Celaena is released from Endovier..Also how Dorian tries to control his magic and how long he can hide it from his father..
I really want to learn of Arobynn's doing especially after reading the Assassin's Blade. And although I would love some Chaolaena, I get the feeling that they won't meet, or if they do it'll be right at the end. With Dorian, I'd love to know what he's going to do. Obviously he can't tell his Dad, but will he anyway, in the hope for guidance? And will je trval his secret with his most trusted friend, Chaol? I sincerely hope so. And in return, will Chaol tell Dorian what he had learnt about Celaena.
I hope Nehemia will make little cameos.I want to see Arobynn and Ansel make cameos/an appearance.
And I've been wondering lately....what would happen if Chaol ran into Arobynn, knowing all that he's done to Celaena?
I hope Chaol and Dorian tell each other everything and leave no secrets hidden so they can help each other out in any situation.
I hope that Chaol and Celaena will get back together even though I don't know if they'll actually see each other in person... unless Chaol follows her to Wendlyn after learning that she's actually the princess. I also want to see Arobynn and I want him to get what he deserves (A long and painful death)
I also want to see how Dorian deals with his magic and this mysterious new girl for Dorian that Sarah J Maas mentioned
OMG I absolutely CANNOT wait for Heir of Fire!
I am interested in what new characters come into play, she's going into a whole new situation and how will she deal with it? Is she going meet the royal family? Is she going to hang in the background watching them?
It's so interesting how the common thread seems to be wanting to see Arobynn--and see him get what he deserves!
I can't wait for Celaena's reactions when she finally finds out. Although I think, deep down, she already knows it was him, she just doesn't want to admit, after Ansel's betrayal and Sam's death.
I really want to see the royal family recognize her for who she really is and how she handles it. I also want to see Chaol and Dorian share all of their secrets and how Dorian reacts to knowing who Celeana really is. I just cannot wait to read this book!
These are my predictions for Heir of Fire:1. I think Roland knows fully well that Dorian has magic. I don't think he just "happened" to run into Dorian outside Baba Yellowlegs' stall, and I'm pretty sure he's the one she stole to. Also, if Roland knows its a safe bet that the King might as well, so I am not sure how this will work out.
2. I really hope that the healer from "The Assassin and the Healer" makes another entrance. Because the other four novellas were relevant to each other and long enough to have stand-alone plots as well, but "The Assassin and the Healer" was just too short to not have a further part to play.
Beyond that, I have no idea. But I can't wait for September 2nd to roll around.
(please let me know what you think of these predictions...)
I cant wait until September 2nd!!!!!!!!!I really hope that Chaol and Celaena meet each other again... (Surely they will... Right?).
I also wonder alot about whether Celaena and Nehemia will meet again (Spoiler for Crown of Midnight (view spoiler)
I think Roland will find out about and try to use Dorian's magic for himself. Roland might even drug him. I really hope Celaena can show off her awesomeness and that we meet her family and learn more about how her magic works. Maybe she might disguise herself to sneak into the palace unnoticed?? Please, please let there be something with Arobynn and the Guild of Assasins!!!!
Im right now in the mid of the book and i dnt want to spoil it for those who has not read it....but i can say one thing that it is really amazing...and cant wait for you guys to read it..
Exactly!!....didnt expect that kind of ending especially for Dorian!!!!Plus i cant wait for Arobynn and Celaenas reunion!!
I don't know if anyone else agrees, but Rowan and Celaena... are they not just THE CUTEST THING?!?!?!?! I litterally cried for them i was sooo HAPPY. JUST AHHHH!!!!!!i feel like I NEED the fourth one NOW!
Feel there should be a new question. Are you TEAM ROWAN or TEAM AEDION ???
I think I'm team Rowan. Could have happily helped Celaena beat him up at first but oh doesn't he grow on you.
I know right..at first i hated Rowan...but when he found out about her past he started to be nice to her and care for her...but now i feel bad for Chaol as he didnt get the chance to meet Celaena before leaving for Anielle..
You know, I'm probably going to get a lot of weird feedback for this, but I'm still TEAM CHAOL. I like Rowan, but I think he and Celaena make better friends. I want her to have that friend she can completely rely on and trust. I like that her relationship with Chaol is complicated and has room for growth. Both characters are growing and changing they are becoming the people the world needs them to be...not just who they want to be or see themselves as, but who they are meant to be. I like that about them. When they meet again they will have a lot to talk about and it will be a getting to know that person again. Celaena is returning to Rifthold expecting everything to be the same as when she left. She's expecting Chaol to hate her for who and what she is...she doesn't realize that's not the case. We as readers know that Chaol had a hard time making a decision, but he didn't hate her for it. They mirror each other as Celaena also had a hard time coming to terms with who and what she was. She didn't want to be queen she wanted to run away from it all. Chaol in his own way did the same thing. They just handled it differently until at last they were forced to make a decision. I am very curious to see where the characters and story are going. I really do want them to grow close again. As I said I like Rowan, but he's like Chaol is/was for Dorian- protector and friend. If that makes any sense. I just like the idea of Chaol and Celaena's relationship maturing and growing into something deeper. Not that it's going to happen, but I still ship that romance arch. LOL and I usually ship any thing fae...if it comes down to a human and fae I usually always pick the fae. :) So that should let everyone know why I'm still cheering for Chaol! :)
Let's not forget about Aedion! I'm cool with that distant cousin relationship lol they were so close as kids I think it will put a bit of a strain on Chaol/Celaena relationship. Plus, she identified more as Aelin towards the end.... And come on, a human from Ardalan as king of Terrasen? Nah. I'm still rooting for anyone but Chaol for that role.
I agree... I'm rooting for chaol before but when it comes of becoming King of terresan, it has to be either Rowan or Aedion..
Brilliant posts. I wasn't trying to takeaway anything from Chaol when I suggested the question. I thought we should decide who we prefer from the new characters. Im not thinking Celaena/Aelin can go back to Chaol there is too much between them now but she needs an alli and I think Rowan will nicely take that role up. Aedion is too like her, has too much garbage to bring to the table. The back of my mind wonders if she will go back to Dorian and rule jointly with him So many question and thoughts still mulling around.
I've never been a team Chaol, I just think he's too ordinary for Calaena. He took too long to decide for me. I'm all for the Princes! Dorian or Rowan and I'm happy. :)
I agree with you guys. I feel like Chaol, Aedion, and Rowan are all on different playing fields. Aedion was her support in the pass and even though he is still fiercely loyal to her, he hasn't actually done anything for her yet, he's been her family. I am just excited to see what happens between them. And then Rowan is there for her now and he basically helps her become a queen(or queenly), and what not (ahhh still fawning over their relationship). Chaol also never really gets the chance to make things better with Celaena, so I don't think we can really say anything about that yet! But I also still see Chaol in the lover role because they have things left unsaid between them. Basically I feel like she has a three tier support system thing going on: Rowan=friend, Chaol=love partner, and Aedion=family. I don't think I can describe how Dorian and Celaena, other than saying they need each other, even if they don't know yet. (Sorry for the misspellings!!)
I'm Team Chaol. To me, Rowan is a friend. Aedion is family. Chaol is the one she loves and who loves her. They are all prepared to die to protect her, but she is linked to them in different ways. Chaol is loyal almost to a fault, but he can be shown when his loyalties are misplaced, and he stands up for what he truly believes in when it matters. He is steadyfast, and that is why he finds change so difficult, and finds it hard to forget what he has been brought up to believe.Dorian is the one who understands. He understands what it's like to have magic in a land where it's banned. He understands what it's like to be heir to the throne. He understands the desperate fear of not being able to control magic and harming loved ones. He understands what it's like to have someone you care about keeping things from you. And now he understands what it's like for someone you love to die in a horrific way.
From here on out, I don't think Celaena and Dorian can return to being lovers. They ever truly loved each other- it was more of a crush. She never felt for him the way she felt for Sam or Chaol and he never felt for her the way her felt for Sorscha.
To me, it has always been Chaol. Even when she says she hates him, she still can't bring herself to part with the one piece of him she has with her, which shows she can't bear to part with his love or the thought of his love, even if it painful to think of him.

I also like the idea of Chaol being ordinary too. It doesn't bother me, in a way it is very refreshing to see someone who isn't powered with magic or super powers trying work in a world that is full of them. Chaol is ordinary, but so is most of the population in Sarah's world. He's a sanity check. Everyone needs one of those. And I while I like Rowan and Dorian there's too much with those characters that need to be sorted out and "fixed" so to speak, Chaol might have some development and growth to be had, but Celaena doesn't have to wait on him to "heal" which honestly she doesn't have time to do. I think that might have been one of the reasons she was drawn to him in the first place. He wasn't scarred or broken he was stable. She needs that stable force in her life. Sanity check.
hahaha...I'm philosophizing about fictional characters this is just really entertaining to me. :)
Though the posts have all been great. As an English teacher I highly encourage everyone to be able to back up their claims, and I love a good tactful debut about literature. :)

I think he will be a great ally for Aelin, but I don't think he will be a potential romance. I honestly don't know if Aedion would come between Chaol and Celaena as I believe he was starting to respect Chaol at the end or at least they were working their way toward friendship. Rowan really is the only potential romance threat given his and Aelin's bond. Dorian liked her, but I don't think it was love. More like infatuation and rebellion and I don't know if Dorian will ever recover from his experiences. He will definitely be a good ally/friend for Aelin.

I'm going with Rowan. Fae and kickass! But I'm still holding out hope for Chaol and Celaena overall. :)

Not that I'm playing devil's advocate or anything! :)
Terresan was ruled by queens not by King... If you are a queen, you obviously need an heir to take the throne... Aelin is not immortal
Heir of Fire was nothing like the other books, it was so much death I might have went into shock (and a complete freak out). I really connected to Sorscha, I felt like she was me. When she died I was really sad. Aelin is immortal because she is an elf. I also really like Aedion, and his sacrifice was one of the greatest of all time, equal to when Sydney Carton gave his life for the woman he knew he could never have. Aedion sacrificed himself so that Chaol and Dorian could possibly live and that Chaol could redeem himself to Aelin so that they can have their happy ending (maybe).
I absolutely loved Heir of Fire. But who was that mysterious man in the very end, throwing *that thing, I don't want to spoil anyone* in the sea? I have no idea but maybe you do?
I thought it was obviously Chaol at the time. Not sure if I should start doubting that assumption...
It's impossible for Dorian to be him since Dorian was under the king already... So which leave us to think if it's aedion or chaol
