Excited to start this series this afternoon!

So let me start out with what I expected from the series, now mind you I did not read the blurbs so my expectations were just speculation at best. I was expecting that we were going to start at the beginning of Sam and Dean's story but that is not what we have here. We seem to be mid season for lack of a better description, and this book is an episode...For those of us who have watched the series on TV this may make sense. There are a ton of references so far to previous "episodes." (view spoiler)[ So far Sam and Dean are true to their TV characters. /sigh <3 Dean and his awkward attempts at being a ladies man. Just like in the TV series we are seeing glimpses of the underlying story like in this book with Dean's dream. I am noticing this is super dialogue heavy which makes it a little hard to sink into a story. Dean's torture in the "Park in the Rear" was funny. <\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ It is dialouge heavy which does make it hard to get into the story, but the characters have seemed to be accurate I mean... except for the description of their eyes. That was not. xD

Also, I'm impressed that the author mentioned Cassie? She was literally in one episode and never brought back from what I remember (hide spoiler)]

70% (view spoiler)[ Well we are finally getting somewhere. So much like the show. Makes me super nostalgic might have to go hunt down the first couple seasons and have a binge! Their detective work is so juvenile but works out every time. <\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

Finished Book 1: (view spoiler)[ Well all’s well that ends well. This has to fall somewhere around first maybe even second season. They are still surprised at all the stuff their dad didn’t tell them and they are still in the process of making all the friends to keep them off radar. After getting somewhat used to the heavy dialogue it was an enjoyable read, mostly for the nostalgia factor and because I can into the book already knowing and loving the characters. I can see, however, someone who hasn’t watched the series being really confused by this book. <\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[ This wasn't a bad read at all. I forgot how much they still fought about their Dad even after they died but reading this it was definitely a 'yeah that happened a lot.' Falling where this does in the season I'm kinda surprised there wasn't other things mentioned, but I'm not entirely certain when that really manifested, so maybe that is why. But yes, if someone hasn't seen the series this could be confusing. (hide spoiler)]

9 % - (view spoiler)[I have a collection of Poes tales and stories at home, but my first encounter with the author was through the mentioned Simpsons episode when I was a kid. I’ll always connect Poe to that show… :D (hide spoiler)]

58 % - (view spoiler)[I laughed so hard when it came to the scene where Dean is thinking about changing his ringtone and that he has to ask Sam about it. It’s something I can see happening in the show as well, that’s something I like about this book. (hide spoiler)]

81 % - (view spoiler)[I suspect the Professor and expert Sam and Dean talked to. He was trying to convince them that the murders wouldn’t be connected and I can see him doing something like that just to find out more about Poe. Maybe how he died, that was something he mentioned and he said that no one knew how Poe died. (hide spoiler)]

100 % - (view spoiler)[Am I the only one who thinks it’s a little sad, that the ghost didn’t got her rest and peace and is now haunting Manfreds house? At least her murder was given to the cops, but she’ll never move on now. (hide spoiler)]

Yesss, Julie! (view spoiler)[ the ending made me mad because the boys left that hanging. They gave her the satisfaction of confronting her murderer, but didn't make sure it actually let her rest and that really bothered me. (hide spoiler)]

13 % - (view spoiler)[Dean feels off in this book. Like in that one Trickster episode where Sam and Dean are fighting and we see Dean through Sam’s POV. (hide spoiler)]

36 % - (view spoiler)[So far it’s an okay read. I don’t really care for the victims, except Stu and Juliette, I don’t know enough about them, but there are a lot of killings in this book. Horrible killings. And way more than in a standard SN-episode. I wonder how many more people have to die before Sam and Dean figure something out. (hide spoiler)]

56 % - (view spoiler)[If I didn’t know the show, I probably wouldn’t like this book, there are a lot of references that you wouldn’t understand if you didn’t like the show. But then there are explanations about how or why they act like they act and passages to describe the relationship to John Winchester which aren’t needed for fans of the show and therefor unnecessary. 85 % - (view spoiler)[Of course that stupid Mayor had to open the Mall even though he knew everything would go to shit. And now they have a large crowd, Sam and Dean are separated and trying their best to save everyone. I like fast paced scenes, but this feels rushed. (hide spoiler)]

100 % - (view spoiler)[Not my favorite Supernatural-book, I liked Nevermore a little more. I had the feeling this one was a lot about Sam and from his POV. Since when is he the one calling the shots? I always had the feeling the brothers were equal, but not in this book. I hope book 3 goes in a different direction there. (hide spoiler)]

28 % - (view spoiler)[Okay, looks like the ghosts in Key West are going crazy and becoming much stronger than they should be. The part with the doll was scary, I hate dolls. I wonder if the couple who lost the bracelet has anything to do with this. A Celtic-symbol mostly doesn’t mean anything good. What I really liked is, that they actually remember the things that happened in the first book and that they probably should have done something more to help that ghost. (hide spoiler)]

51 % - (view spoiler)[I like Bone Key way more than Witch’s Canyon, which is a relieve. And Sam and Dean seem more like the Sam and Dean we know and love. (hide spoiler)]

79 % - (view spoiler)[This last Calusa-thing seems to be very powerful and Dean and Bobby are teaming up with a demon now, I’m wondering if this will work like they plan to. In the end they’ll probably be betrayed. (hide spoiler)]

The End - (view spoiler)[Dean saved the day and then Sam was able to save Dean. He’ll be doing that a lot in the next time, I guess. This book was way better than witch’s canyon. I’m hoping it stays this way, there still was a lot of backstory from the show, which the book doesn’t need. Someone who hasn’t seen the show won’t understand most of it anyway. (hide spoiler)]
