What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I didn't really read it, but more so heard about it. I can't remember much from what I've heard, but all I do remember is...

- It's set in a school
- This teacher tells students to be unique/not follow the rules or something and teaches them this by telling them to stand on a desk
- One student refuses


Maybe spoilers for the next point?


- Teacher eventually leaves the school
- The one student who refused before stands up on the desk along with his peers to pay respects to the teacher that left

This book seemed pretty interesting and I hope I can eventually discover what it's called so I can read it.
