Alyssa | 5 comments Hello All!

I have a head scratcher for you. A patron came in today and is looking for a picture book she read as a child in the early 90's. It was a picture book about some kind of mixed up animal. She can't remember how many or what kind of animals were blended into the one, but kept mentioning a zebra and thought it might have a camel hump. Other possibilities of animal parts included a giraffe and a donkey. For some reason, she keeps relating this book to Where the Wild Things Are . This makes me wonder if it was published in the 60's or 70's and had similar illustrations. The animal lived at a farm or with an owner and ran away to the circus (or something), because it felt different. In the end, they find out the animal is special. She thinks "Extraordinary" may have been in the title and read it in a 2nd grade remedial reading class. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Thanks!

Mai | 1280 comments There's also a read-along on YouTube (not sure if it's read by the author or someone else) so your patron can see all the pages and hear the story again. I'm going to look for a copy, this sounds like a nice book! (I think it's from 1970)
