Poll #2 - No Distinction

If you're looking for a good resource, the Wikipedia page has all of the nominees and winners listed.

I have The Mars Room on my shelf from BOTM club, so if I don't get to it this year, I'll probably end up using it for next year's challenge. I'm also tempted by How to be both, The Luminaries, and The Remains of the Day.

Of the ones nominated, I'd definitely recommend Room (if you are one of the five people in the world who haven't read it) and Never Let Me Go (which I read this year and really enjoyed).

dalex (912dalex) | 2646 comments The Booker is one of my favorite prizes so this prompt is definitely one that is going on my rejects challenge.

Some of my favorite books that have been nominated for the Booker:
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell
The Chimes by Anna Smaill
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke
The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan
The Electric Michelangelo by Sarah Hall
Fingersmith by Sarah Waters
Half-Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan
TransAtlantic by Colum McCann
Hotel World by Ali Smith

Rachelnyc | 943 comments This is on my rejects challenge as well.

Of the ones I've read, here are some of my favorites that I would recommend:

The Blind Assassin - Really all of the Atwood books on the list are great, though Cat's Eye was my least favorite of them. They really love Atwood at Man Booker!
Brick Lane
Never Let Me Go
Wolf Hall
Half Blood Blues - Dalex, I love that this is among your favorites from the list as well since I don't hear it mentioned often and I feel it's underrated.

There are several on my TBR including:

Midnight's Children
The Remains of the Day
The God of Small Things
The Reluctant Fundamentalist
The Luminaries
Washington Black
The Mars Room

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3855 comments I am planning on reading one that I own, possibly True History of the Kelly Gang, The Luminaries, or Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. I probably have others that I don't know about!

Serendipity | 441 comments Putting a plug in for The Luminaries . The author was born in the same Canadian city as two of my kids and then spent her childhood in a New Zealand city I currently live in. As well as those fun personal connections I thought it was a great read. I also loved The Mars Room. Since I've read both of those I'll have to find something else for me to read.

I’m glad you enjoyed The Mars room! I’ve heard mixed reviews and I know it’s going to be dark and gritty. I plan on reading The Luminaries for another prompt this year (it fits so many!)

Good to hear! I am looking forward to reading both this year for this or another prompt.
