Tomorrow, on September 30, is OrangeShirtDay!

It is to remember the victims and survivors of the Residential School System, the last ones still open in 1997.

Holly (goldikova) I've heard the accounts of some of our local Chippewa tribal members who were old enough to have been sent to the school. So senseless and horrific.

My friend, who is a Chippewa, went to public schools and according to her there was a lot of racial tension there, and not the best environment for learning. The tribe now maintains it's own primary and secondary schools on the res, and a tribal college as well.
