I've heard the accounts of some of our local Chippewa tribal members who were old enough to have been sent to the school. So senseless and horrific.

My friend, who is a Chippewa, went to public schools and according to her there was a lot of racial tension there, and not the best environment for learning. The tribe now maintains it's own primary and secondary schools on the res, and a tribal college as well.
