Samridhi ✿ (28_samridhi) | 85 comments ¡Hola! What are we reading?
*excited*
Let's decide the genre first and then each one of us can shortlist few books. Then we'll decide accordingly.
I think, it's best to keep a handful of books (3-4) as options first so that everyone can have their say.
What do you say?

Since it's October, let's read at least one paranormal/fantasy novel. Do you have any planned books that you want to read?

I have plans to read A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness Steelheart (The Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson Only By Your Touch by Catherine Anderson this month.
But I can accommodate more books so let's just list all the books we're interested in here and we'll go with the best option.

Samridhi ✿ (28_samridhi) | 85 comments So, I'm back!
Here's the list:
1. The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan
Genre: YA/Contemporary/Magical Realism/ Fiction/ Fantasy

2. Circe by Madeline Miller
Genre: Fantasy (Mythology)/Fiction/Historical Fiction/ Retelling

3. Mirage by Somaiya Daud
Genre: Fantasy/YA/Sci-Fi

4. We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
Genre: Horror/Fiction/Classics/Gothic/Mystery

5. A Court of Thorns and Roses (the whole series really, but only three of them have been yet published so...) by Sarah J. Maas
Genre: Fantasy/YA/Romance/New Adult (what is that supposed to mean?)

6. Graceling//Fire//Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore
Genre: Fantasy/YA/Romance/Fiction
---
I have these books in my tbr list so far. Though I'm open to any other options!

I'll be honest here, if we decide on a book which is a part of a series, we'll have to read all the books in that series to calm my paranoid mind.
Don't take me wrong, I love books in series, its just that I really need to read them all in order to feel complete about the book. I can't just read one and then whoop! not read the rest of the book.

But I'm open to books part of a series too. No problems there.
*sits confusedly*
What did I just mean?

Em*Greedy* (Iniya) (iniya_n) | 972 comments Hey girls, and Abhay ...
I went through the books you've mentioned, and Only By Your Touch from Ipshi's list. Discovery of witches I've read already, when you read the book 2 in the series, I can join for a BR...

From Sammy's list: Except the Shirley JAckson book I'm fine with the others. I think I've read that book already and didn't like it much... Creepy psychological books are not for me...

Will post the books which are in my immediate TBR..

A tree Grows in Brooklyn works fine with me too. And so does Sleeping Murder (Always up for Agatha Christie books).

Any fantasy books in your tbr list @Iniya di?

@Ipshita di, what do you suggest?

@Abhay hola!

All the Fantasy books are part of series.. I'm currently reading the iron fey series book 2 https://www.goodreads.com/series/4732...... But it'll be a stretch if I pull you two to this. Also I'm reading the Kate daniels series, but then thats also in 7th book :-|.

So if we are looking for fantasy this month, shall we go ahead with https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... ?? Mirage should also be fine for me..

Let's wait for Ipshi to come and comment..!

Yep, always up for Agatha Christie's books :)
I also have A court of Thorns in my TBR, Graceling I tried to read once before but got bored and left half way.

So I guess we have these three books as the finalists:
Sleeping Murder A Court of Thorns and Roses Only By Your Touch

But that would be six books in all, three yet unpublished.
Gah, Let @Ipshita di decide now.

I've had Amazon prime for months now and until today I had no idea that we can borrow upto 10 books from the kindle library. And once we return a book after reading we can borrow more. Ahh I wasted so much time and lost out on so many free books :(

Starting Saturday October 6, 2018.

Those with kindle unlimited get even more book deals but I feel that would be a loss for me because I don't solely depend on kindle. I buy a lot of paperbacks on the side and read some on the free file hosting sites whenever I can.

Let's first get one book done then we'll decide depending on how we liked it. Although, it is Sarah J. Maas so I have high hopes.

Sure! No problem.
How are we going to discuss the book though?
Complete one chapter, then discuss?

Because reading the whole book and then telling how you felt wouldn't be fun

This feature they have added recently only I think.. Earlier this was available separately as Kindle Unlimited subscription. So you need not be so sad :-D

@Ipshita di what do you say?

Another thing, I have a very bad habit of finishing good books (which I am suspecting includes A Court of Thorns and Roses) in one sitting. (which shouldn't be possible because of classes and all, but one gotta worry)
How long does this challenge last for?
Any sort of restrictions, say finish one chapter in one day, and not the whole book. Or rules, I don't know.
*cue nervous laughter*

LOL, you want strict rules :-P :-P If you do finish in one sitting, then you have to wait for discussing with us till we finish the book.. Or you can go ahead and motivate us ;-)

We can all read at our own pace. Any time we have to discuss something relevant about the book we can use the spoiler tags. That way it wouldn't be spoiled for the ones who haven't reached that particular part yet.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas on Saturday 6, 2018.

Em*Greedy* (Iniya) (iniya_n) | 972 comments Samriddhi wrote: "What is the term "New Adult" supposed to mean?"

I think the characters are not really teens..

New Adult fiction bridges the gap between Young Adult and Adult genres. It typically features protagonists between the ages of 18 and 25 with the cap at 30ish. - Copy paste :-P

I thought maybe it had something to do with the content of the novel and the graphic scenes.
