Hiya guys! Glad be back on team with you all. Tara, I believe we were in Team Raven together back in TT IV. Nice to meet you Elena
Katie!! we JUST played with Elena in Team Cedric!
Hello hello hello! So, for the benefit of Tara - and Elena - there's a gang of us that have played together in a number of challenges, so I can tell you that you are joining a super-friendly gang of readers, who will be here through thick and thin, willing to read all sorts of rubbish in the pursuit of points. :)
As for me, I'm going to try to keep us all going in the same direction this game, having fun & reading, but not getting stressed.
Main thing I want from you lot, my little Demons, is to let me know what you're reading, if anything pops up that means you can't read as much or at all, to have fun and be kind to each other :)
Sound good?

We've got three weeks to get prepped for the start of this. our first word is PURPLE - so save up books that work for spelling out those letters!
In addition, we get bonus points for finding "purple"
1) in the title
2) in the text of the book
3) as 50% of the cover colour
4) on the first page of shelves
These books HAVE to be in the spell out - so no good finding a purple title that can't also cover one of the letters.
We only need to find one book for each of the categories - so no need for everyone to read the purple equivalent of the Brown Shorts book!
The good news is: I've found a book that will work for the genre task! but, the others are all up for grabs, if you guys want to go on a hunt!
I'll get a planning sheet together to help with that, and add to links in one of my first posts.
ETA: planner is here
Hopefully it's set up so you can edit it, but let me know if you have any probs

Oh! And can you let me know if the following is NOT what you eventually used for the challenge shelf?
Cat wheel-of-holibobs
Katie wheel-a-thon
Tara wheelathon-3
Elena wheel-a-thon-3
Marie Wheeliegood
Sarah wheel-iii
Daniellewheel-iii
Sass tower-teams-spooky

Planner spreadsheet is view only.
Cat wrote: "Sass, we're Ok - they're not automating it, so it just makes things easier for Katie & me"oh ok, great. Thanks. Now I don't look crazy with a completely out of left field shelf name. :P
Hello, fellow So glad to see all of you again! I believe I played with Sass before and very happy to meet you, Tara and Danielle!
I think it could've been UNO! Was it the one where we had to find an absurd amount of yellow covers?!
Elena wrote: "I think it could've been UNO! Was it the one where we had to find an absurd amount of yellow covers?!"Probably. That seems like it's every UNO I've ever been in. LOL
So, I may be making a spreadsheet to see how many of each letter I have available. Turns out I've got a lot of everything, except U. Boo. I will search for some of those.
Hi Cat my shelf is wheelie-good with a hyphen here is the link https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...what is the genre shelf have i missed that?
i can cover any of the letters in the book I am sure finding purple in text will not be difficult however i have no purple covers that fit the word
Hi Marie! How's it going?
Thanks for the shelf update :)
There's no genre shelf for this one, we just need to spell out the letters of purple, as many times as possible during the week 27 Oct - 3 Nov (start time is 10pm UK)
Plus complete the scavenger hunt for the four items:
- word in title/series
- word in text
- word on cover - usually we'd be looking for an image, but for the colour that's the cover colour
- word on first page of shelves
I do have a purple cover and a purple shelved book, which I don't mind covering, so that's the most tricky one sorted.
If people can be on the lookout for the "in title" that would be great - remembering that it also needs to fit our spell-out letters too!

so true! Yellow 9s are my personal bete noir (so to speak) - I start stockpiling those covers from Christmas nowadays!

Oh, and because we've got the planning sheet, I was thinking that we don't need a separate books read thread, unless you guys desperately want one? Updating the sheet or posting here would work, I think - with added benefit of maybe spurring some book chat too?
If you'd rather keep it separate though, shout and we can get the mods to set one up for us.

I have at least two P - authors, i can cover U have put that book in options spreadsheet it has purple in text. and isn't in my SRC at the moment so i can hold it for the start of wheel. L is perhaps my most difficult letter to cover some books i would need to get from the library but we have time
I'm a little late to the party it seems. Urgent library book reading this morning before it expired! I made it with minutes to spare. Priorities, you know. ;)Hello everyone! Lovely to be on the same team again, Elena. Hello Tara! I look forward to getting to know you.
I do have a purple in title book that I've been hoarding forever (since Wobble). It has an L character. I'll take a look at the planning sheet later today.
Re yellow covers and Uno- yellow 5s have always been my nemesis.

@Sarah, demonstrating your committment to beating a reading deadline is a perfect reason to be quiet before now! We love that sort of focus & determination in these competitions, right?!
Fives! yeah, they are pretty awful too. Green, though, is the colour I associate with nightmare 5s.
Blue & red, they're pretty easy though, right?
Uno is a super fun game though :)

Scavenger items are just once per word. I suspect Sonia & the Mods couldn't face me adding another Brown to my catalogue of Wheel Woes!
Cat wrote: "Scavenger items are just once per word. I suspect Sonia & the Mods couldn't face me adding another Brown to my catalogue of Wheel Woes!"but maybe our non- last wheel members cannot wait to read Death Wore Brown Shorts we just need to big it up for Tara and Elena
I'm pretty sure Katie's confessed that she didn't read it either...
but i think that's cruel & unusual punishment and so we'd fall foul of the Geneva convention!
