A link to my review of this wonderful book (and thanks to Jen for submitting it) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'd like to submit my review for this book. I think it is a wonderful meditation on exile - and I think that, despite it's short size and fast pacing, it would be wise of the reader to take it slower. Think of it as poetry, demanding meditation and thought, and I think you will find it more rewarding.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Really must give this book another try sometime. I had it out from lib this winter and couldn't settle into it. Finally returned it when half done. Think a re-read would help it go better for me. I get everything everyone says about it. Just one of those things for me.

I'm glad the thoughts of others have encouraged you to give this book another chance, Mmars. It's one of the more beautiful things this group is capable of.

"...Such a beautiful, lyrical journey - Ru is so expressive and personal, it felt at times painfully intrusive of the author's memories. This is Thuy's first novel and an incredible feat of poetic beauty..."
