The First of the 7 Cemeteries

Max sat by the headstone of his mom, this was one of the few places that Max could find even without his sight. He ran his hands over the words engraved into the headstone. Even though he would never admit it, Max deeply missed his mom.

Dawn wandered through the Cemetery, she knew her big sister didn't like when she did this she knew that she had to train to stay relatively safe on the Hellmouth, besides she knew Faith was here.

Faith walked around the Cemetery and looked around for Vampires or Demons that were up to no good and spotted a kid, A little boy. She made her way over, concerned.

Max looked up, hearing footsteps coming towards him. He looked towards the sound, his eyes narrowing. He had learned quickly that to survive on the streets, one had to be tough.

"Hey kid, I won't hurt you," Faith said honestly, "What are you doing out here after dark?" She asked.

Dawn spotted Faith with a kid and was curious about the boy.

Max continued glaring "Nothing" He replied, his tone cold and distant.

"Hey why are you glaring at me? I haven't done anything to you." Faith said shaking her head, then realized that this kid might have gotten out of a situation that she'd been in when she'd grown up. "I'm really not gonna hurt you. I'm nothing like the place you left behind."

"You don't know shit about me. And before you ask, I'm perfectly fine alone" He said.

"If you say so" Faith said shrugging "But it isn't very safe here in the graveyard. My name's Faith by the way"

Max shrugged, everywhere sucked and wasn't safe. "Sounds like the rest of the world" Max mumbled, lowering his gaze back to the general direction of his mom's headstone. He took a deep breath, letting it out slowly "Max" He said quietly.

"The rest of the world isn't Sunnydale." She said.

"The rest of the world sucks though. Everyone is a fucking asshole" Max commented, crossing his arms.

"Not everyone, B. and her friends are decent enough people. So's Dawnie, who is right behind me, aren't you Dawnie?" She said. looking behind herself.

"Yeah." Dawn said walking over so she was right next to the dark haired Slayer.

Max looked in the general direction of Dawn, although he couldn't be sure that he was actually looking at her. The 10 year old stood up "I should go, my dad may worry" He lied, not wanting them to find out he was a street kid.

Jess in wolf form heard the conversation and walked up to Max and sat down near the 10 year old, touching his nose to the boy's hand, well aware that the boy couldn't see and let out a worried whimper like a dog would.

Max jumped when he felt the wolf touch him, having not expected it. "Oh uh...hello there dog" He said awkwardly.

Jess wagged his tail and moved closer, settling himself by the boy's side.

Faith glanced back to the entrance of the cemetery just waiting for B to show up and take control of the situation away from her.

Buffy walked into the cemetery, looking around.

Max backed up a bit, he wanted to get away from this situation and back to where he felt slightly safer.

Jess stood before glancing around, Seeing another teen he nudged his nose against Max's leg feeling his insecurity and wanting to help him with it, to help ease it.

Faith looked at Dawn. "See, here she comes." She said sighing then heard screaming, not just any screaming but that of her son, they weren't far from her apartment and looked at Buffy then Dawn and took off in the direction of the screaming. "Sorry B gotta go"

"Okay bye Faith!" Buffy said, sounding very confused.

Max turned his unseeing gaze back to Jess "Uh...I'm alright" Max said quietly to the wolf.

"We're fine here Buffy, Follow her, it might be something bad she looked freaked" Dawn said to her sister.

Buffy nodded and ran after Faith.

Max listened to the retreating footsteps and after they were gone, he started running the other way, stumbling every so often. He didn't trust any of them and wouldn't risk being brought home.

Kairos woke from his slumber, pushing the large slab that covered his stone coffin. Sitting up Kairos could hear voices far above him. "Uug what year is?" He thought to himself. Getting out of his Coffin he made his way to the upper levels of the crypt. Reaching the top level that lead outside Kairos took in a deep breath, the air was cool and crisp. He exited the crypt looking around seeing someone running off in the distance. "Who is that?" He thought to himself.

Jess bolted after Max, wanting to keep him safe from anything that might hurt him, Though he knew 'Anything' was a broad description. He caught up to the boy and ran beside him, enjoying the wind in his fur that was almost black and blended in with the night sky.

Max felt something running next to him "Just leave me alone!" He yelled at Jess. "I am fine on my own, go back to wherever you came from" He demanded, refusing to trust anyone or anything again.

Kairos just listen to the yelling off in the distance. Disappearing from that location he appeared in front of max with his palm held out as if to say stop. "Boy, slow down." Kairos said "allow the woman to explaine herself." The elder Vampire said to max. But again this was the logical part of his mind at work.

Jess jumped up and pushed against Kairos with his front paws snarling. Not a girl Vampire. Let him by he said to Kairos telepathically.

Max heard the new voice, and glared towards it. He didn't like that people were trying to care for him now. Where were they when his mom died or when his dad started beating him. No, he wouldn't allow anyone to take care of him anymore.

"Accept my apologies, he said back telepathically to Jess. He did not budged as the paws hit his chest. "Now please explain what is happening, maybe I can help." Kairos stated, looking over the one who had just pounced him. He looked back at max. He could sense Max was in pain, "boy!, get over here and please allow this one explain themselfs." Kairos stated reaching out with his mind.

"No, I don't need to do anything for any of you! I am perfectly fine alone. Like fuck, why are you all such fucking creeps. I know I'm blind but I am NOT helpless or in need of care!" Max yelled at them.

(Sorry to cut in)

"Max! Stop being foolish! Allow Jess to care for you. You might be blind but dont be a idiot as well. Going though life with out another is lonely Existence. Don't be that person who shuts their heart to thoes who care." Kairos exclaimed with a bit of a annoyance to his voice. He looked to Jess, "am I right? You have already accepted his sightless condition and still care for him other wise you would not chase him so." Kairos stated.

"Of course I Care, which is why I choose to protect him from You Vampire." Jess said telepathically still in wolf form, though he could speak verbally if in Human form.

"Yes I am Vampire, but I do not wish harm on others. I have spent most of my life protecting humans even from my own kind. As i believe life is precious." Kairos stated keeping his calm state of mind. Though he spoke the truth Kairos knew they had no reason to believe just from his words.

Jess looked back at Max. "I'm a Shifter, I can turn into a Wolf and Several other animals, And I can take Human form, I just didn't want to surprise you when I shift Back, I still wish to protect you though Max." He explained before shifting back into his human form.

Max didn't notice the change, but he started backing up again. He kept his ears open just in case they tried to stop him.

"Max I won't stop you if you still want to run, but give Jess enough time to explain their side and how they feel. Give them at least that much." Kairos suggested.

((Jess is a He, and Identifies as a He, He just has a girl's name, Was born as a Boy with a girl's name.))

"Him" Jess said pointing at himself, "And I'm protective of anyone younger then me, It's the way I was raised. And I don't know you, and you don't know me. But maybe we could be friends?" Jess said to Max

Max crossed his arms and glared at the ground "I don't need friends. Everyone hurts me eventually. I'm much better off alone or dead" He responded.

"You are not. Nobody is better off dead." Jess insisted.

'Trust me kid when I say there are many other things much worse than being dead." Kairos said folding his arms. "For one being more or less immortal and watching all thoes you have come to love grow old and die." Kairos stated, as he thought for a moment. "Beside you should be happy you have such a great friend, or lover who cares for you so deeply. As a vampire I could never find that due to so many of my kind acting like jerks." The elder vampire said.

"Friend, He's way younger then I am, That's illegal and wrong on so many levels." Jess said growling, his face not showing anything but his annoyance for the Vampire.

"When you die, you're faced with eternal nothingness. It's gonna be great. I'm counting on my eternal nothing." Max commented with a dry and humorless laugh. "And by the way I don't have loved ones. My mom is dead, and my father is a piece of shit, who can die for all I care!"

"I do not make assumptions nor do I judge, i did not mean to assume anything. Please forgive me, i have just only woke from a four hundred year slumber. So I am not awear of how this new era factions." Kairos said with his arms still crossed. He could see Jess was getting annoyed by him, but truly he did not mean any harm in his statement, he did not know thier ages. He did not want to assume that they were kids or young adults. Letting out a deep breath being a bit flustered withhim self Kairos looked to the side trying to find a way to better the situation.
