My thoughts so far:
I had a hard time finding an ebook version of The Halloween Tree, so I opted for an audio book version instead. To my surprise, the narrator was Kirby Heyborne—the actor in The RM, The Singles Ward, The Best Two Years, etc. Apparently he’s made a name for himself narrating audio books! I had no idea. I did some research on his narrating career and I was really impressed. And I have to say, he does a brilliant job narrating The Halloween Tree. I’m actually glad I went for the audio book—I’m used to listening to self-help audio books, so hearing Kirby do all the different voices and expressions and all the things to bring the book to life has been rather delightful thus far.
Also, Ray Bradbury’s writing. Mmm. So good. My personal favorite snippet so far is his description of the character Pipkin and the boys’ love for him.

Maryn—I know exactly what you mean about Bradbury’s writing! It’s so beautiful and descriptive—one of my favorite things about the book.Funnily enough, I first encounter The Halloween Tree when I was a kid through a cartoon movie. I LOVED it, and as an adult I looked for a copy of the DVD and found it was a book first.
Derek and I read it together the first Halloween we were married, and we couldn’t get enough of the beautiful prose.
I love that you and Derek read it together! I wish I could get Freddy to read books with me. 😅 Thank you for recommending the book! I’m loving it so far!
