Frank takes advantage of the “nosy neighbor” phenomenon to learn more about the Werners and Goodwins. Clever or a waste of time?

Very smart. He knew from experience that there is always someone who knows everything that is happening in the neighborhood. He just had to find the right person and let them tell their story.

He learned a great deal from the "old biddies". Never waste a potential resource.

I thought it a clever idea that he actually pulled off pretty well. It helped him eliminate the Goodwins and invest more time with the Albertons.

It's smart not to underestimate the usefulness of the nosy neighbors, as Mrs Ellsworth has proved him more than once.
