nightowl99 | 0 comments Hi everyone! I was hoping some of you might have some recommendations for wildlife picture books with beautiful artwork. So far I've read and loved Stellaluna by Janell Cannon and Owl Babies by Martin Waddell. Thanks so much for any ideas you have!

Ellen (ellend926) | 7 comments I start the year at my school with Raccoons and Ripe Corn by Jim Arnosky
The Raccoon family come out of the forest at night to feed in the corn field and each beautifully illustrated page shows other creatures. Lots to talk about.

nightowl99 | 0 comments Thanks so much everyone! I'm going to find all of these books. I like to knit stuffed animals so I'm thinking of trying to knit some animal characters from each book and donate the books and animals to charity.

The illustrations for Raccoons and Ripe Corn are indeed wonderful.

Sisters and Brothers: Sibling Relationships in the Animal World and others by Steve Jenkins.

Song of the Water Boatman and Other Pond Poems, and others by Joyce Sidman.

I don't know if they'd lend themselves to craft projects, but they are excellent wildlife books.

I also most definitely second Anthony Browne's One Gorilla, an enjoyable and very *important* book that should be in every library and well-stocked home.
