Hello! My name is Monica McEnerny, and I am an education professor at Castleton University. I taught 7/8 English for many years. I recently enjoyed Yvonne Daley's Going Up the Country. It's not a young adult novel, but it is fabulous - especially for Vermonters who are interested in our recent history! I look forward to reading more young adult novels and sharing about them here with this group.

Jeanie Phillips | 2 comments Hi! I'm Jeanie Phillips, former school librarian and current Professional Development Coordinator for the Tarrant Institute. I LOVE reading YA (and sometimes middle grades). I'm currently listening to Dread Nation on audio and I'm reading the brilliant Katy Farber's Real and Relevant. I've really enjoyed this book group and look forward to future books and discussions.

Katy (katyfarber) | 3 comments Hello to this group in a fancy new space! I'm Katy Farber, Professional Development Coordinator and author. Thank you Jeanie for your kind words about me, especially from a book hero like you! Glad to be here. I've just finished Sing, Unburied, Sing tonight, and I have the last scene plastered across my brain. Vivid, haunting, beautiful. And, all centered around young adults and a young child. Simply stunning. I highly recommend it. Can't wait to pick up this months selection, though I just bought 500 words which I fear must come first (for reasons I'll explain later). Happy reading!

Chelsea | 1 comments Hello all! My name is Chelsea Colby and I am a 1st-year teacher who just graduated from Middlebury College. I teach 1st and 2nd-grade at Cornwall School. I am currently doing the Global Read Aloud Picture Book Study with my students. This year the texts are focused on the often under-represented voices of indigenous authors, specifically, we are reading books by Monique Gray Smith and Julie Flett. Personally, I am diving into a few books that have been on my to-read list for quite some time - Americanah and The Joy Luck Club. I look forward to reading and discussing books with you all very soon!

Welcome, and wonderful!!

Stacy (raphaelstacy) | 2 comments Hello all! My name is Stacy. I'm a mid-career first year HS English teacher in Middlebury. I'm currently reading The Body Keeps the Score (for a graduate class) and Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger. The former is quite intense re: trauma so I appreciate that the latter frequently makes me laugh out loud during silent reading with my students. They think I'm crazy, but that is okay... Grateful for the opportunity to connect, S

Margi (mputney) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Margi Putney. I'm the librarian at Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester, VT. I just finished Hey, Kiddo and The Underground Railroad. I LOVED both of them. Just started The Alice Network.

Martine | 1 comments Hi Everyone! I'm Martine Gulick and I am the "Director of Library Media Services" at Essex High School and the Essex Tech Center. Over this dreary weekend I finished Educated by Tara Westover and a 900 pager by Dickens, Little Dorritt. I'm now reading the Ladies Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by MacKenzi Lee. I loved the Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue.

Lindsey | 3 comments Hello! I'm Lindsey Halman, Program Director at UP for Learning and a former middle level educator. I am so excited about our new space to share books and thoughts! I just finished An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. This novel is about people trapped in a tragic situation, struggling to reconcile their responsibilities and desires. It asks the hard questions about injustice and betrayal and pulls at your heart. I am now re-reading Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates in anticipation of his visit to UVM on 11/6. I also just checked out The Prince and the Dressmaker and cannot wait to get started!
