I'm not big into horror usually. I'm currently reading Lovecraft Country along with S&L, and I'm enjoying it.
I also recommend Maplecroft by Cherie Priest, and I'm hoping to read I Am Not a Serial Killer at some point. Ian Tregillis' Milkweed Triptych series is good too, though it eases you in with the horror elements

I have just started reading Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore. It is not really a horror but mystery is not something I usually read so I thought I would try it. Although I don't remember much about the story now, Ghost Story actually scared me.
Yeah, Maplecroft creeped me out too!
Hooman author extaordinaire (and newest member of this group) Tyrolin Puxty has written several spooky books! She wanted to let y'all know that her newest book will be free for download from October 29 - 31!
I did the thing! Just in time, as it turns out, for the sequel which comes out TODAY! Witch Boy is an awesome gender binary smashing middle grade graphic novel with really cute art and some spooky monsters. Rebecca wrote: "I'm going to finally read The Witch Boy!"
I finished Lovecraft Country a few days ago. A little cheating I suppose since I "had" to read it for another club lol. It was a really good examination of the horrors of racism and pre-Civil Rights/Jim Crow America. It was interesting to see how the author managed to weave that in with horror and Lovecraftian elements.
