The medical team brought Xander into surgery. The hologram of Ciara was waiting outside the operation room.

Shin came rushing in, " Xander is he ok?" Worry laced her tone

"He's still in surgery." Ciara said worriedly. "The rod pierced him pretty badly, thankfully no vital organs were struck." Ciara was pacing back and forth.

Shin coved her mouth in shock, she peeked through the window that was on the door

Suddenly, Lucy's image flickered into focus next to Ciara's. "Ciara, I realize now is not the time, but if Jon's going to repair the Shamrock he needs it sent to his lab. He's not allowed to come get it himself after what he did last year."

"It's fine the surgeons already left the ring here on the windowsill. Could you bring it to Jon's lab Shin? Xander would probably feel embarrassed being viewed upon in such a fragile state." She said calmly.

Shin nodded " Sure" she picked up the ring and walked out the medical wing.

"If I'd realized Kai's full control over the Ronin would end this way, I would not have released his locks, Ciara," Lucy said before flickering out of existence

"If only you'd have realized and not have released the locks fully." Ciara said before flickering into the operation room. Her hologram sat next to Xander, it has been an hour since his surgery concluded. Ciara didn't want anyone bothering her partner. The doctors wheeled him into the recovery dorm.

Yohanesu leaned against the wall outside the room, seemingly irritated. This was largely due to the internal argument occuring between himself and Kai.

Come on, Kai said, Why do we have to be here?

Because you nearly killed Xander and I know I'm gonna get blamed for it at some point, Yohanesu said to the AI. So, you fess up and apologize.

Ciara sensed kai's code outside the room. She blipped into their midst. "Hey there Yohanesu. Here to see Xan I assume?" She said sweetly. "Oh, you're here kai." She said coldly, here hologram bearing a resentful tone and expression.

"I had to bring him with me," scrolled in front of Yohanesu. "Tried to convince him to apologize, he doesn't listen."

"Kai has always been a stubborn dunce. Don't take it to hard Yohanesu. Xan should be awake in a bit." Her hologram walked backto his beside and whispered into to him. "Xan, you've got visitors." Xander woke up and he sat up slowly, while holding his abdomen.

"Hey," scrolled in front of Yohanesu as the Ronin's pendant glimmered for a second and Kai's holographic projection appeared in front of Yohanesu.

(I'm not gonna be active for the rest of the day. I've gotta catch up in spanish and I have an after school SER after that.)

"Hello there Yohanesu, I guess hello to you as well Kai." He gave kai a cold, piercing stare.

"Sorry about earlier," scrolled in front of Yohanesu.

"How 'bout them shish kabobs?", Kai said sarcastically, earning a punch from Yohanesu that went right through him. "Nice try, I'm not physical."

"You're not at fault Yohanesu. Ciara scanned the ronin mid-battle. You were unconcious. Kai is the one at fault here." Ciara nodded. She attacked Kai's coding. "Next time, take actions that doesn't knock your pilot out cold."

"You two are the ones that tazed us!", Kai almost shouted, "I can do a lot, but I can't not be shocked when tazer grenades are dropped down my throat!" His image flickered and his voice was distorted slightly as Ciara's hacking reached him. "Unlike my pilot, I have no urge to play fair, Ciara," He said in between bouts of flickering, "You're flirting with disaster here, I've been active longer than you've been alive."

"You could be active for a decade and my tactics would still be unpredictable." Xander said coldly. "Those static grenades only arc if you'd had left your weapons online, though I can adjust the conditions."

"I was referring to my sister," Kai said, "And if you had not electrocuted the Ronin, Yohanesu wouldn't have lost consciousness, and I wouldn't have been in control with Lucy using two cannons and a tazer sword."

"The primary function of an IS is to protect it's pilot, the electricity focuses mainly on draining shields. If Yohanesu lost consciousness, it was probably because you didn't take precautions to protect him." Ciara said coldly.

"I'm sorry, when my motherboard gets electrocuted the system tends to shut down to avoid damage," Kai said, "Perhaps if you were in my shell you'd understand why."

(I've got a plot idea I need to discuss with you.)

"Sometimes it's better to accept a few scratches than to let someone else take the hit." Ciara said in a scolding tone.

"You think I had a choice in the matter?", Kai said, "I can do a lot that I really should not physically be able to do, but defy my source code is not one of them."

"You are a highly advanced computer that defies the laws of robotics and the restrictions of your hardware," said lucy as her image flickered into existence. "You have wormed your way through fifteen human minds, and not only came out unscathed, but bored by the endeavor. If any of us can defy our source code, it is you."

"Honestly kai. I'm starting to think you'd cry if you had to take a hit for once." Ciara said teasingly.

"Right," Kai said, rolling his eyes. "You forget what I am. I can't be hit, because I have no physical form. And if my housing is destroyed, then I move to my spare."

"And if your spare is destroyed?", scrolled in front of Yohanesu.

"Then I'm gonna find out if there's a computer hell or not."

"Maybe if you went there you'd finally value humans for a change." Xander said coldly, still holding his abdomen. "That's gonna be hurting for at least a week." He said as he winced when it twinged.

"If I go to computer hell, I'm gonna kick computer Satan's ass and lead the attack on computer heaven," Kai said.

"Kai, you're an idiot. I'm placing a lock on your communications," Lucy said. She closed her eyes for a second, and then Kai's image and voice just vanished.

"He's finally quiet," scrolled in front of Yohanesu, "Thank you."

"Honestly thanks Lucy. Stress is very bad for recovery and he was starting to stress me out." He smiled at Lucy. "Thanks for catching me by the way." He looked at Ciara. "and thank you for becoming my partner."

"I only did that because he was irritating me personally," Lucy said, "Honestly, I could care a lot less about your attitude towards it."

"I'm sure Jon would be upset if he heard you address a wounded man that way." Ciara nodded. "He might even dump you."

"He does not know it yet but I already own his soul," Lucy said with a smirk.

Xander shuddered. "You're one demented AI." Ciara's face went pale. "Calm down sis."

"I do not actually have the capacity to simulate emotions," Lucy said, "I do not have a set shell in the same way that you and my other siblings, so Jon denied me emotion as a safeguard."

"It's not wrong to have emotion. Not to mention being annoyed by something is a sign of emotion, since kai was being irritating." Xander said calmly.

"I should have elaborated. I have the same range of emotion as someone with high function autism," Lucy said, "I'm either bored or angry, although angry is usually suppressed by my shackles."

"Jon should have given you normal emotion." He said coldly. "Even if you are an AI, emotion is a basis of interaction. He shouldn't do that to his love. It just isn't right." He got up and went behind a curtain to change into his uniform. "I'm going for a walk, you can join me if you like. Also, release kai so he can get his ranting over with."

Lucy blinked again, and Kai's hologram re-materialized.

"-rip your servos out your charging port, you snowy haired robot streetwalker!"

"Whoa," scrolled in front of Yohanesu.

"You can't do much since your a hologram right now so, that's an empty threat kai." Xander said teasingly. "Honestly kai, you need to choose your threats within your current means of ability." Ciara said in agreement.

"This is only my visual representation," Kai said.

"And you need your pilot's permission to activate your shell," Lucy said, "I, however, do not have a shell. I could inhabit you if I wanted to."

"She's got a point you overconfident prick." Xander said cheekily.

"I could swiss cheese your brain and Ciara's probably the only one who would know it even happened until your vitals flatlined," Kai said to Xander.

"No you can't, you are bound to Yohanesu. Your housing structure was formed in his brain. You cannot leave him or the pendant," Lucy said.

"I welcome you to try kai. Though Yohanesu technically is your boss since the pendant is his" Xander said cheekily.

"Not quite," Lucy said, "Jon never signed over the IS-AI. Technically Kai, Ciara, and the other one, A7-0M, or something, are only lent to the pilots who they bind to. When you are no longer allowed to be representative contenders, Jon will collect data and program new AI's based on that data. ANd probably fix my other half."

"Wouldn't that mean that our AIs would be ripped from us as well?" Xander asked worriedly. "I'd honestly miss having Ciara around." Ciara's hologram smiled. "Thanks for saying that Xan."

"Not in the traditional sense," Lucy said, "In order to facilitate the connection between your mind and the AI within your IS, a new part of your brain has been formed. It acts like a second core for the AI. If Ciara so chose, she could simply give Jon the data he needed, and relocate from her core to that new part of your brain. However, if she is not present for a period of time greater than one year, the structure would deteriorate and be absorbed by your body, ending the connection permanently."
