I'm trying to remember the name of a children's book I read in the 1970s that was about a robot. I think the robot's name consisted of a letter and a number, (for example, B9), but I can't remember for sure. That's about all I can remember about it except I remember really enjoying it.

Reader, is this a picture book (about 32-48 pages) or a longer chapter book with mostly words?
Was the robot mostly helpful or did it cause trouble (e.g., Walk, Robot, Walk by Mercer Mayer)?
Who built the robot or where did it come from?

The name is not a letter and number combo, but maybe you are thinking of Danny One from the My Robot Buddy series by Alfred Slote? Short chapter books from the mid-70's about a boy whose robot looks just like him, which they use to their advantage throughout the series.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the book did have pictures. I don't remember much more about it.

Or one of the others in the series.
2-B and the Space Visitor: A Bob Miller Picture Story
2 B And The Rock 'N Roll Band: A Bob Miller Picture Story
Bob Miller also wrote Blossom Bird books, not sure if the robot is in them; don't think so. The only problem with the robot books is they were published 1981.
