Brian Basham (brianbasham) | 96 comments I am also currently reading Beacon 23 by Hugh Howey on my lunch breaks at work. So far it is following a former soldier who is out on a space beacon. The beacon lets other spacecraft know that there is an asteroid belt in the area so they can avoid it. His job is to basically make sure the beacon continues to function. It has been pretty interesting so far.

It reminds me of 2001, but without the evil computer. Being out in space alone can do strange things to your mind kinda thing.

Brian Basham (brianbasham) | 96 comments It has been pretty good so far. His first book Wool was fantastic and nothing he has written since then has grabbed me like that.

Tammy (tammyschoch) | 38 comments Wool is part of a trilogy I believe. I loved all 3 books in that trilogy.

Brian Basham (brianbasham) | 96 comments It is. Wool is the first part of it. It was originally broken apart into much smaller novellas. Wool was originally released in 5 smaller volumes. Then the other two novels were broken apart in 3 smaller volumes.

Lydia Schoch (lydiaschoch) | 26 comments I hadn't known that they were originally released in smaller volumes. Interesting.

Brian Basham (brianbasham) | 96 comments They were all pretty much novella length and then he later combined them into an omnibus that was novel length. I'm trying something similar with The Cursed Armor. I also have another novella that needs to be edited for another story that I plan to do the same thing with.

Brian Basham (brianbasham) | 96 comments I'm about half way through now. The book thus far has been a study of loneliness and delusion... in space.

Brian Basham (brianbasham) | 96 comments This book picks up a bit more once the bounty hunters become involved. It has been very enjoyable since then.
