Tell me about the book you just finished or about the book you are currently reading. Please begin your post with a FATT sentence (Focus author text type and title.. Then, tell us about the book's important details (a spoiler-free who, what, where, when, why, how). Next, talk about your personal reaction to the text. Lastly, tell me if the story serves as a mirror, or a window. Stories can be mirrors when we see ourselves, our lives, and our experience reflected in the text. Stories that are windows are stories that help us better understand the lives and experiences of others.

Abi P | 1 comments The book, "Tyler Johnson Was Here", by Jay Cole is about a boy names Marvin Johnson lives with his mom and his twin brother Tyler while his father is in prison for a crime he did not commit. Tyler, Marvin, and their 2 other friends named G-mo and Ivy, that leads to a police shooting and find out that Tyler is now missing. I was shocked when this happened, I didn't want to stop reading because everything felt so real. This story was a window because it shows how people of color are treated so differently when they are just trying to do what others would do in their daily lives.

Tash Nguyen | 1 comments The book that I am currently reading is, Dream Fall by Amy Plum. This story is about scientists conducting an experiment that is meant to help people with chronic insomnia but their plan doesn't go as expected. The book is really relatable because I sometimes have those nights when i cannot sleep and all I do is thrash around my bed.

Kenia | 1 comments The book I am currently reading is called speak by Laurie Halse Anderson and it is a novel about a girl struggling with an event that affected her life dramatically. It had all started over the summer with one single phone call to the police. The author mentions briefly what had happened to her.Throughout the story it shows how Melinda struggles after the event and how she ends getting through this.My reaction to what had happened to her was shocking because it can happen to any one and it really scared me because things like this can happen and some people don't have control over this. This story serves as a window because it opened up my mind and saw how these victims really feel and why its so hard to speak about what happened to them.
