This is Annesha here, a long time member of Goodreads - browsing and trawling through the site but never has participated much. Though now I have decided, a bit of change is needed.
I have been beta reading and sensitivity reading for both experienced as well as new authors for over a year now and is ready to take on even more recent connections in the writing community.
In the aforementioned stretch of time, I have delved into and evaluated throughout the wide spectrum of genres, such as Literary fiction, Romance, Creative/Narrative Non-fiction, Sci-fi, Fantasy, Thriller, Cosy Mysteries, Supernatural, Christian, Erotica, Graphic novel, Children, Middle-grade, YA and Adult.
For the sensitivity reading, I do identities like Indian, Queer, Obesity, Body image, Bullying and Mental Health.
My philosophy is quality over quantity and thoroughness over time. I usually ask the author to provide an initial five chapter sample for me to go over and get back with feedback, all within the ambit of a single week. Afterwards and only if the author is satisfied with my work, I request them for a small deposit through PayPal and then ask for at least the next ten chapters, and if the author wishes - a separate questionnaire pertinent to each chapter.
In this manner, both the author and I can get a feel of each other's work ethics and judge if we are in tandem. I can do a read of a ten-twelve chapter break-up each week, thus devising detailed notes and curating a thorough report - giving the author their money's full worth.
The charge as the title suggests is economical and easily negotiable.
For a beta read, I take a maximum of about four-eight weeks depending on the length of the work and the author's convenience. On the other hand, sensitivity reading takes a month and no more.
My slots will be open for new projects from this Monday onwards and will continue to be the same till November 10th. So hurry up and book your place right now, either by commenting or messaging me here or else shooting me an email at dasguptaannesha@gmail.com.
Will eagerly await the responses and hearing from y'all.
